I consider it a mark of courage and bravery, not something ugly at all. And I want him to be able to see it that way as he grows older. But here's the deal. He's 2 and it's nearly impossible to get him to hold still. I thought if I had a prop or something he could occupy himself with it might help, but I want something that won't take away from the scar. Any ideas of something I could do?
Jamison'smama replied: Of course I am not Jennifer but what about a small paper heart, like a Valentine, it is almost Valentine's day and it was heart surgery.... or a bigger heart, or a stuffed heart etc.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I like that idea, but he's at a stage where he likes to rip paper a bit too much. That might not look too good.
stella6979 replied: I'm not Jennifer either, but I always see this commercial with this little boy who had heart surgery and he's in the bath surrounded by bubbles. He's sitting on his knees so you can see his scar and he's "flexing" his muscles.
cameragirl21 replied: do you need him to look at the camera? and is this something you feel like you have to do right now or can it wait till it warms up enough to take him shirtless outside? i ask this because i think the pic will be more interesting outside and it will be easier to distract him into staying still.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: It can totally wait until it's warmer outside. It was just something I thought about today when I was getting him dressed. I know kids can be mean, but I don't want him to ever be ashamed of his scar. It's just a part of him. He's realizing it more and more lately. The other day, he looked at his chest, picked at the scar and said "Hurt". And I don't think he needs to look at the camera.
ETA just thought this out a bit more, and it can still wait, but it'll be June at least before it's warm enough for no shirts here. Maybe we need a warm vacation this winter.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Here's a couple I already have, but I kind of want a better, less dramatic one.

cameragirl21 replied: wow, Kelly, he looks just like you! what i would suggest is waiting till it's warm out and taking him to a butterfly garden where there will be many cool things for him to look at and don't pose him, just let him have fun in the garden and keep snapping away till you get the shot you want. another option is to wear him down a bit first so he's less likely to move fast when you are ready to take the pics. also, if you go to a butterfly garden some of the butterflies may land on him. if you don't have a butterfly garden but like the idea then i know a butterfly breeder who can send you some butterflies...if you have to do it yourself with the butterflies, i can explain to you how to handle them so they won't fly away as fast. too bad you don't live here, you could have posed him with a tiger, talk about a show of strength....
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: What part of Florida are you in? I'm not kidding about the warm weather vacation. It's been darn cold here. LOL
And thanks. I think it's his eyes and mouth. He does have Aaron's nose, which is good, it masculinizes him a bit.
cameragirl21 replied: i'm in Miami--the southernmost part other than the Keys...we are the last city before hitting the Keys, unless you count Homestead and Florida City, all of which are the southern most parts of Miami. I'm sure this little geography lesson is just what you were hoping for. I'd love to meet you if you came down for a visit and would love to help you out with Logan's pics. If you can't come down here though and would like to take them yourself, i can certainly help you with ideas or any of the practical side of it. taking pictures is hard work but once you get the finished product, it's so worth the effort, kind of like having a baby, no?
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I was actually going to suggest you come to Florida. We have warm weather. Actually Jenn my best friend lives in Miami. I think South Beach right now, but in Bel Harbour for most of his life.
cameragirl21 replied: i live very close to South Beach and i know Bal Harbor really well, it's a very nice and expensive area with a posh shopping mall that you have to pay by the hour just to park at. so...is your guy friend, single, Jewish, rich, and good looking? just kidding....
JadensMama05 replied: OMG Logan is so beautiful.. Every picture I see of him! He is by far one of the best looking kids I have ever seen, Kelly. Just looking at him makes my heart melt, like when I hear Jaden laugh or something. I dunno what it is about your son but he just has AMAZING vibes coming from him. Probably cuz he's so brave!! BTW, I love this picture idea you have. Sounds rather powerful.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: OMG, Ali, you are so sweet. I think he's a good looking boy too. He got the best of his parents genes for sure. He's a good kid for the most part, but he has a stubborn streak a mile wide. And he makes this face when he's being a stinker. His lower jaw juts forward and his teeth stick out like a bulldog. I call it his mischief face. If you tell him no, he'll make that face and do it anyhow. The stubborn came from his dad and I've seen Aaron make that bulldog face too.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: ITA and I've had the pleasure of meeting Kelly in person and she is an amazing person. There's no doubt in my mind that Logan is who he is b/c of her strength and love.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Aimee, what a great warm fuzzy you just gave me. Thank you. I loved your kids too. Ethan is such a ham. And Maddie, what a princess. Do they still have their cups?
Maddie&EthansMom replied: They sure do! Ethan calls it his "Efan" cup and has started drinking out of it very well.
redchief replied: Man, I love these little "catch-up" threads. I know, it didn't start out that way, but I've really enjoyed reading this thread. I don't have anything of value to add to it, but I couldn't keep quiet anyway.
JadensMama05 replied: Oh my, I'd love to see that bulldog face!! Jaden just sneers for now, but I look forward to all the crazy looks he gives me.
That's so awesome that you guys met each other and each other's kids.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I really only got to meet Aimee and children. She wasn't able to meet Logan because I was in Dallas on a work trip. Bummer. Maybe next time I go visit my sister in TX.
