Jenna has yet another delay...

mummy2girls wrote: It never ends for this poor girl... She had a severe speech delay but now thats mild, mod-severe gross motor delay and now thats mild, mod to severe fine motor delay and now she has no delay. This past nov she was tested for her visual motor skill and it came back as her haveing a severe delay. So now she needs therapy for that delay. This poor girl was also diagnosed a while ago with poor muscle tone from the waist down which was the cause of her not being able to walk until 22 months. That will always be with her the therapist said. Since her suregry her drooling has improved big time but its still there so im waiting until jan when she goes for a follow up with her surgeon about what he thinks... poor girl just saw her asthma specialist and she needs to bump up her daily puffer to 2 times a day instead of one, she is on singular and needs that emergency puffer as well just in case and also nasonex spray bumped up to 2 times a day. something seems to be thrown at this girl.. she is currently seeing a speech therapist, physical therapist and occupational therapist. she is getting referred to a physchologist as a thing every kid in this program needs to see if they are where they should and needs additional help next year. So we will see what will be in store for her next year!

cameragirl21 replied: Shelly, I know this may sound crazy but try modifying her diet--remove all wheat products...she may have a wheat gluten allergy, better known as celiac disease. I knew a woman who had really bad Rheumatoid Arthritis for over a decade and as soon as she gave up wheat gluten (I mean, after a month or so of not eating any) it went away completely. With all these problems of hers, I can't help but think there is something else going on that's the root of it all.
The way to tell if she has a wheet gluten allergy is to keep her completely off any wheat gluten, literally not a crumb of it for 3 weeks straight, then for three days feed her wheat gluten products all three meals a day and see if you see a difference in her. If she feels really crappy those three days then that's your answer. Many people have this allergy and don't know it so it comes out as asthma and muscle issues and RA and other things and once they are off the wheat gluten it all goes away, not instantaneously but you'd see a rather fast improvement after a month of no wheat gluten.
I'd give it a shot just to see if it helps.
Btw, I should add that I am a bit of a hypocrite, which is something I hate, but it's true because I too should be trying this to see if it makes my asthma and allergies disappear. Problem is that for me as a vegetarian, if I give up all wheat products then that pretty much leaves me with fruits and veggies to eat and not much else so that is why I'm hesitant...once you give up the wheat gluten you will feel so good and just one serving of cake for example will leave you feeling like crap so I'm afraid to even try it out but I think maybe if it helps Jenna it's worth a shot, no?

SHE HAD ALLERGY TESTSING DONE AND SHE CAME BACK AS NONE...sorry caps was on...LOL

cameragirl21 replied: I don't think they test people for wheat gluten allergy though, it's not in any common allergy test but either way, I'm sorry she's having these delays. hug.gif

boyohboyohboy replied: celiac disease is tested thru a blood test. My kids with allergies have had those smile.gif

Nina J replied: I am getting tested for celiac's disease at the moment (not right now, but recently, lol), it is a blood test which is either negative or positive. If it's positive, you get an endoscopy. Mine was neither positive or negative so I am getting a endoscopy next week dry.gif

I am sorry Jenna has so many delays hug.gif

At Spencer's last apt. at the hospital we were told that he had poor muscle tone. They suggested to start him lifting 2 lb weights and then gradually working up and also getting him to regularly use the treadmill. Maybe something like this would help Jenna! hug.gif hug.gif

Cece00 replied: I'm sorry to hear that.

If you dont mind my asking- is there a reason she has so many delays? I'm just wondering...my son has a few delays, too, for unknown reasons...wondering if its the same situation for you or if there is something that causes the delays.

mummy2girls replied:
Im not sure why she does. i know the delays come from her dads side because he had some and his sister as well... so who knows...
