Jasons 1 year check up

he is 20 lbs 8 ounces 29 inches
he got 2 shots..which he did not like at all! Actually, he pretty much hated the entire doc visit. He doesn't like the nurses, but he is ok with the doc. I love our ped, he is very nice. He suggested cutting down on the amount of milk that he drinks by a few ounces. He also confirmed that he is cutting molars.
All in all, it was a good visit. Jason is growing well and is right on track!!

MommyToAshley replied: What a big boy! Way To Grow Jason! Sounds like he is doing Great!
Just curious, why did the Ped want you to cut back on the amount of milk? Is too much milk a bad thing? Are you giving him regular milk? (If so, how did you get him to drink it?)

ediep replied: He is on regular milk now. I got him to take it by mixing it with his formula, 1 ounce or milk with 7 ounces of formula for 3 days. Then 2 ounces of milk with 6 ounces of formula for 3 days and so on. It took a few weeks, but now he gets all milk. He was taking about 28 ounces a day. 1 8oz bottle after breakfast, 1 after lunch, 4 oz bottle in late afternoon, and 8oz before bed. The ped said to cut back to 24oz because that amount of milk will keep him too full and he may not want to eat food. I have just been cutting back from 8oz bottles to 7 ounce bottles. I also may change the late afternoon bottle to a sippy cup. The ped said that he most likely will take a few ounces less from a cup.
I may have an idea for you.....Jason's ped said to get a different kind or different color sippy cup than he uses for water. He said that Jason associates the cups that we use now with water and he may spit out milk from that cup because he isn't expecting it. I am going to get totally different cups for milk and only use that kind for milk. The doc said to even use one type for water, one type for milk and one type for juice.
Hope that helps!

MommyToAshley replied: Ahhh, so too much milk won't hurt him, it's just so that he doesn't get too full from it.
Thanks for the ideas on cups. Now I wish Ashley didn't have so many different kinds of cups already or I would try that. Maybe I will start using her cups that way... but it might be too late since she drinks out of anything.
Mommieto2Girls replied: Way to Grow Jason, he'a getting so big.
I was told not to give Madison no more than 24ozs of milk a day, something to do with the iron, the more milk to can interfere with iron consumption. Something like that.
~CrazieMama~ replied: I thought I replied to this. Sorry.
