Jake is conjested from Daycare... - Any suggestions would be great!

I was told if I put a dab or two of Eucolyptus oil on a burp cloth and put it near his crib area the aroma will help him breath. I was also told vicks plug in's work great.
Any other ideas???
boyohboyohboy replied: we always have luck with the cool mist humdifier.. i didnt like the vics plug in. i didnt think it worked.
MommyToAshley replied: I would ask your Ped about the vicks too. I seem to remember Ashley's ped telling me not to use that but just to use a humidifier.
I'd try the humidifier. We use the steam ones because then you don't have to worry about adding anything to the water. But, then you have to make sure that it's in a place he can't burn himself or pull it down.
indywndy_04 replied: ok, thanks for help with this!
What about the Tablets that you drop in the shower?
boyohboyohboy replied: those are very strong..i dont think i would use that on a baby. i used those when i am sick and it works great...
i think usually all the noise the stuffy baby makes is just noise...it usually doesnt bother them all that much. does he seem like himself other wise?
maybe ask the ped if you can use the little noses saline and the sucker outer thing...i think i remember them saying thats ok at his age.
MommyToAshley replied: Good idea... we used that a lot on Ashley as well.
indywndy_04 replied: Man, my ped is the one who suggested the tablets and the vicks plug in. She did say that the saline nose stuff and sucker outer thing would be good to use.
ZandersMama replied: I always thought vicks was dangerous untill a baby was over 6 months. After Zander was born I got a horrible chest cold, and the doc wouldnt let me use vicks because of the baby ,he said it could hurt him being even close to the smell of it.
Calimama replied: Yeah I'd be careful. Our ped always told us not to use it around Bella. I hope he feels better.
indywndy_04 replied: WOW! I would have never thought that Vicks could be bad for a baby! That is scarey! Thank goodness I have you girls helping me out! Even though I am a mom of 4, I don't remember what helps and what I shouldn't use. Ya know.
coasterqueen replied: You could try sinus massage on him, maybe? I've never tried it on a baby that young, but I don't see why it would hurt. I do that myself and with the girls when needed.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Humidifiers work best I think, but if you don't own one and don't want to run out and get one, then just go into the bathroom, close the door and windows and turn on a hot shower. Steam it up in there and then bring your baby in and let him breath in the air for a little while.
The little nose saline drops work too. I tried the plug-ins once and never really thought they did all that much. Made the room smell a bit, but not much.
indywndy_04 replied: Jake slept in his carseat all night because he couldn't breath laying down. The daycare just called and said that he is miserable. I feel so bad I could cry!!! My poor baby! I just want to make him feel better. They said he is also running a low grade fever of 99.5. I feel like an aweful mom having to work while my poor baby is sitting in daycare sick! DH is getting off early to go and get him.
Boo&BugsMom replied: They make baby vic's you can rub on their chest! Not sure if it's the Vic's brand, but we have some and it's for infants. That always worked for Aiden. Warm steamy baths, cool mist humidifier, use the nose sucker, and elevated the head of his bed. Oh, and someone metioned the saline drops. Those work great...let them settle for a minute or two then use the nose sucker to get the boogers.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Oh...one more thing...get some baby vapor bath!!! That works well too!!!
indywndy_04 replied: I am on it!!! I will go get that stuff tonight when I get off work. I am excited about the vapor stuff for the bath and the rub for infants! I thought he was getting better so I was holding off on buying anything but as it turns out, it looks like he needs it.
Thanks for your advice!
