Isn't it funny how we say no
my2monkeyboys wrote: so much, and how often it is over things that don't matter? I caught myself about to tell Will to stop when he balled up some old paper and threw it at me. Then I thought, you know, it's not hurting anything. Paper isn't going to knock over a lamp or grind mud into the floor! So, we commenced to having a very fun, loud, long paper fight!!! And when we got tired of it, we just picked it up and threw it away. No harm done, and lots of fun had by all. It's just funny how quick we are to say, "no, don't do that" to things that are of no real consequence, KWIM? That's one thing I'm trying to change about myself. To not be so quick to holler no.
Do any of you find yourselves doing that too?
edit: typos
C&K*s Mommie replied: I do. Over inconsequential things too.
lisar replied: I do the same thing. I know what you mean.
Our Lil' Family replied: All the time! It's the control freak in me!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I used to.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Ditto
luvmykids replied: I've been working on that too, for some reason NO just pops out of my mouth practically before they've even asked I usually think about it for a second and then think "Why not?" so instead of having to retract my NO I tell them to let me think about it for a second....I've said no to a lot of things that really didn't matter.
boyohboyohboy replied: me too, add me to that list
A&A'smommy replied: YES i hate that too... I'm trying to get better about it though!!! Sounds like you guys had FUN!!
my2monkeyboys replied: Yeah, I'm trying to actually think about things before I say yay or nay. I've only just realized how bad it is to be so quick to say no, and plus I'm hoping that will teach Will to think about things before he makes decisions, rather than just snapping to a decision.
Calimama replied: I hope I dont. We'll see in a couple years.
redchief replied: I think we all temper a bit over the years. I used to be a stickler, but, hopefully, my kids find me more fun today than they did then.
Crystalina replied: Isn't that crazy! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I do catch myself saying no for silly things but then I tell them go ahead or "mommy had a brain fart." It's pathetic. I try to tell myself not to sweat the small stuff. I'm getting better.
