Is this just a normal "BOY" thing?

Mom2Boyz wrote: I cannot keep Conners hands off of his penis!!! ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif He really "discovered" it about a week ago and now he just won't leave it alone. He was playing in his room yesterday, and I hadn't heard him in a while, so I went in to check on him and he had taken his diaper off and was sitting on the floor weiner pointing straight up just having the time of his life LOL. I knew that he would eventually discover it, but I never knew it would be so soon.
My mom says to try not to make a big deal about it, and he will soon find something else to "play" with.
Did anyone else have this problem with their boys?

moped replied: Jack discovered his in the bathtub one night and it has been the same ever since. I don't tell him not to or anything because I am hoping that if I do't make a big deal about it he will stop playing with it!!!!

I think it is totally normal..............now that I think about it he hasn't been all that interested in it lately!

Boys r us replied: I think it's a boy and a girl thing..I've seen plenty of little girls enjoying themselves that way. As akward as it may be, try not to discourage it..just tell him he has to do that in his room, not in front of other people. Well..that's what I did with my kids and is my suggestion!

TANNER'S MOM replied: Normal children..

I remember Brittany getting a diaper rash and actually laughing when I put Destin on her private.. and I felt strange.. but they are kids..

Boys don't really outgrow it.. they just learn where to do it.. and I have one who is 11 and 7

redchief replied: Yup... its a boy thing. As they get older and mature, they'll not be so public about their "boy thing" sessions. Its okay to remind him, gently, that its not appropriate to confirm his maleness in public, but don't make a huge issue of it. Like I said, he'll learn fairly quickly that "home inspection" is better accomplished in private. Good luck. smile.gif

My2Beauties replied: I don't know about it being just a "boy" thing because whenever we change diapers or give Hanna a bath she is constantly grabbing herself blush.gif

kimberley replied: lol james was like this and so is Jade laugh.gif. i have had 2 "Al Bundy" babies. it is a comfort and curiosity thing i think. James did it til he was about 4yo wacko.gif

Our Lil' Family replied: Is it odd that my son, who is only 6 months does the same thing? I thought he was a little young to have discovered it but as soon as the diaper comes off for bath or changing, his hand goes straight to it! Kinda young huh?

redchief replied:
Kind of young, but not unheard of. smile.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Both boy and girl thing! Wil plays with his when I diaper him and when he's in the bath. He giggles and thinks it's funny...so I don't really care. I'm going to wait awhile before trying to explain that he shouldn't do it in public, but I think that most kids know that naturally once they hit a certain age. They understand what's private. As far as the boy/girl thing, I've seen my 6 year old niece with her hand in her panties while she's watching TV at home. She typically will get shy and stop if I catch her, so she understands it's sortof something you don't do around others, I think.

They all do it!

moped replied:
I think he is just smart....well if i was a guy I might think that anyways......................KIDDING

Mom2Boyz replied:
4 years old ohmy.gif I sure hope I don't have 2 years of yelling "Conner get your hand out of your pants" LOL rolling_smile.gif

mckayleesmom replied: McKaylee does it all the time rolleyes.gif

six_kids_at_28 replied: My kids all did it. All the triplets do it, when they get older I will teach them that thye don't do it in public...etc.
Star just sometimes watches tv or reads with her hands in her pants, its just comforting to them I guess wink.gif

ilovemybaby replied: I agree with everyone else. It's totally normal and as long as you just ignore it they will eventually stop. I (personally) think it's damaging to them if you tell them not to do it or discourage it because they will get the idea that their privates are dirty and that to "feel good" is dirty or bad. I'm not saying that we're supposed to encourage it or anything though LOL

ions_momma replied: Ion used to do that too. He has learned that it is something to be done only in private though. I still see him sitting on the couch with his hand in his pants every once in a while though.

kimberley replied:
LOL rolling_smile.gif it was definitely a comfort thing by that age. he only did it when he was going to sleep. happy.gif
