Is it stupid to - paint when the house is so hot?
moped wrote: I think it is but I have never really painted anything major - we don't have air cond. and it has been VERY hot - so is it silly to paint in the house when it is HOT??
A&A'smommy replied: yeah I wouldn't!!!! not stupid just not fun at all!!!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well with YOUR condition, I'd have plenty of fans blowing the fumes away. Even if it is just latex paint.
If you have time, go for it though. I would. Just use a fan or two.
stella6979 replied: Hmmmm.....you could maybe check the paint cans and see if they list anything about certain temps. I would think the hotter the better cause it would dry fast, but what do I know? If it's real humid though, it may take longer.
Calimama replied: I'd read the paint cans. Good luck!
moped replied: Well that is what i am wondering - would fans help or would it dry all goofy!
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: We had our house painted a few years ago in the summer. It was too darn hot to open windows and our house reeked for a few days. You couldn't get the fumes out. If it's just one room, I say go for it, close the door and open the windows when you're done and let it air. I'd never have the whole house painted in the summer again. Fall or late spring. But I don't remember the paint drying funny.
luvmykids replied: If you do it, add a tsp of vanilla extract to the paint. Doesn't change the paint a bit but really gets rid of the smell
grapfruit replied: That's a great tip! I'd never heard of doing that. I DID see on the Today Show awhile ago they are coming out w/scented paints that are suppose to last about 2 years (yeah right)
lovemy2 replied: You sure are a wealth of knowledge!!
Be careful YOU don't get overheated painting - as for the paint itself - shouldn't be a big deal unless it is really humid...
Boo&BugsMom replied: Are you nesting already? I remember painting the ceilings in our home when I was 8 months pregnant with Tanner. It was kind of hot out. I don't think it matters as long as you have proper ventilation, pregnant or not. Have fun!
hoosier momma replied: The heat won't affect the paint. But if it is humid, it won't dry very well.
moped replied: Well no but I was at my neighbors last ngiht and she did the same thing TOm and I have been tlaking about - the main living room wall and one small wall painted a Merlot color - it looked so good and now I know what it would look like - so I am trying to see if Tom will agree......if so, I might tell him to go Thursday til Sunday fishing if he can help me with this
THen I will start on Jacks new room
Boo&BugsMom replied: Thats how I did our dining room! Merlot on two ajoining walls though, and cream on the other two and on the cream walls I have merlot curtains to match the other two walls.
luvmykids replied: That's not even the start of it, I know all kinds of useless junk
gr33n3y3z replied: if you can wait until Sept. or Oct.
moped replied: Well I could but have to do Jacks room before that because I want him to be in it a few months before baby........ It will cool off here in Aug I am sure - this is very unusual heat right now
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Ooooh I want Merlot colored paint too. One of the main colors of my "decor palette" is Merlot. Right now, most of my accent pieces like vases and main color in artwork is merlot or in the merlot family... my curtains in my bedroom and in my bathroom are merlot...as is my rug in my bedroom...
I don't have the guts to do it though. Let me konw how it turns out!!!
gr33n3y3z replied: oh if thats the case then do it when the heat breaks
