Is it REALLY possible to have AF and be PG?
coasterqueen wrote: I honestly don't think I'm pg, so please don't get excited. I'm just trying to piece things together that seem to be very weird. I have been having severe heartburn for weeks if not a bit longer than that and I don't know why really. I've been nauseaous (sp?) the last few days and tonight when DH brought dinner home, I couldn't stand the smell of it and ate about half and almost threw up. I'm also wanting to eat 24/7. I think I've eaten the whole house this weekend.
BUT I got AF on the 12th and it was very heavy. By the evening of the 14th it was fairly light and has been extremely light all weekend, with a few blood clots here and there. Sorry TMI.
AF has been pretty consistent for me in the fact that I'm usually very heavy for several days, like 4 or 5, then go light for 2 days.
I'm just not sure what is going on at all. I'm also exhausted. I just can't get enough sleep. I just started noticing this about Thursday of last week.
I honestly don't think I'm pg though. DH and I are EXTREMELY careful and if my memory serves me, we only did it once, maybe twice last month . That's embarassing to say.
I'm just confused on what my body is doing right now. I don't think I'm sick, maybe I'm just plain exhausted. I just don't know.
kit_kats_mom replied: Karen,
I've never experienced it but I know it can happen. It may also be just all of the stress you have been under making your immune system a bit loopy. Perhaps you've caught a mild bug. Until you can get an appt or take a test, pick up some iron pills. If nothing else, perhaps you are just slightly anemic.
BTW, don't be embarassed about your frequency. DH and I only did it twice the month that we got pregnant...we just happened to do it at just the right time.
Mommy2M replied: First i would like to say that i hope it works out to be whatever YOU want the outcome to be. I have heard of having your period and being pregnant before. Very odd but it has happened, and for my friend it happened the first 3 months of being pregnant. But you could be getting a bug (like above poster said) I would give it a bit and test. If you were as careful as you claim, i would think that all is well. Good luck either way! Also, i wouldnt worry too much about the sex part either. I am 13 weeks pregnant, needed clomid to get pregnant with my Meadow, had sex once and was pregnant with this baby. To tell you the truth now....When i took the home pregnancy test, i was Soooooo worried!! I didnt remember having sex with Dh. AT ALL! Called him at work and asked HIM if we did or not, and HE couldnt remember, and Just then my sister (who lives upstairs) said, "yes you did, i remember hearing you, It was during the day and i was home" Then Dh and i BOTH remembered, LOL Also, since i have been pregnant i have only had sex once....
A&A'smommy replied: you may be having symtoms because you want to be pg? I kinda felt pg too last week but i also think it was just exhaustion. Sorry I'm no help!
Mom2Boyz replied: I guess anything is Possible But highly unlikely. I would test just to make sure though Let us know!!!!
MomToMany replied: Anything is possible, Karen. But more than likely you just had a bug. Maybe take a test to ease your mind...
Good luck! I hope it works out the way you want!
amynicole21 replied: Karen, I think that more than likely you are not pregnant. When people claim to have had their period while pregnant, it is usually what's called implantation bleeding which happens when the embryo is burrowing into the lining of the uterus. It is usually pretty light bleeding, and can last up to 2 days. It is confusing to people though because it happens at the time you expect your period to start. Since your AF was heavy and has lasted longer than that, I don't think it is implantation bleeding. Most likely you are feeling the affects of being stressed out and may be a bit under the weather. I hope you start feeling better soon - being sick to your stomach is no fun
jem0622 replied: If your bleeding was really heavy and you are not used to that then you could have had a missed miscarriage. If you haven't seen AF while you've been nursing then it could just be your body trying to get back into the swing of things. When you are nursing your cycles can be really wacky.
Hope you know soon...one way or the other.
I would call the OB/GYN just to make sure it is nothing.
Kaitlin'smom replied: Well speaking from experience yes you can have your 'period' while PG. I did I was shocked not only the learn I was PG with Kaitlin but also on how far along I was (I was 5 months when I found out I was PG), course I said to the lady with the U/S how is that possible? She told me it is possible infact they wereseeing more cases of women having a period while PG sometimes the will miss and learn they are but she has also see and heard of women having one the entire time . There is alway the chance get a test and find out might put your mind at ease either way.
Hope everything works they way you want
coasterqueen replied: Thanks everyone . I truly think I'm not pg, but I think to rest my fears I am going to buy a test at lunch and see what it says. I really want to get pg soon, but I don't think I want to be pg this way, lol. Not that I wouldn't be happy, but I am looking forward to going on this trip with DH and our friends and having a blast, so it would be best if we didn't get pg before then.
Julie, I have had AF since Kylie was about 10 months old, and since getting AF back the first days are always REALLY heavy, so that is normal. It's just NOT normal for my period to stop midway through.
Kylie has been nursing non-stop for a few weeks now, which could be why I'm so exhausted and not feeling my best. It also could be because I'm pigging out and I'm so disgusted at myself for doing so which may be causing me stress.
We'll see. Thanks again everyone.
Kaitlin'smom replied: and this could be exactually whats going on....
so we should save the baby dust till after your trip....
DansMom replied: I had what seemed like a period when I was pregnant with Daniel.... Let us know what you find out
coasterqueen replied: I took a test and I'm not pregnant! I'm actually happy and relieved. No matter how much I want to be pg right now, DH and I really want to go on that float trip and party with our friends, so it's for the best.
I really didn't think I was though, because we are so super careful. I'm also a "planner" so to have something like this happen would throw me for a loop.
So July is still our month
Kaitlin'smom replied: well then in July I will send baby dust your way.....
glad you got an answer
kimberley replied: well, lots of baby dust coming to you in July! it was probably just stress. you need to rest woman!!!!!
paradisemommy replied: well i'm happy to see that things turned out how you wanted but on a side note - i had a friend that had her period for the whole 9 months she was pg. she took about 8 hpt and they all came out negative, she even went to the dr. and took one and that came out neg too but she kept telling the dr. I KNOW I AM so when she was about 3 or 4 months along she convinced them to give her another test and that one finally came out + but she still bled the whole time..weird huh?
coasterqueen replied: Oh gosh! I hope that's not what's going on with me. WEIRD!
MomToMany replied: I'm glad it worked out the way you wanted, Karen! I'll send some baby dust your way in July!!
