Is My baby's Sleeping Position Dangerous? - My baby falls asleep while sitting up

When she's not slumped over, she sleeps on her stomach no matter how often we lay her on her back is that still dangerous at 9 months old as well?
I attached a pic of her slumped over from bedtime tonight.
Any input is appreciated as I am quite concerned. My pediatrician told my wife that he'd never heard of that before.
thanks, Andy
luvbug00 replied: I've never heard of it before either. wow. ( that's an interested wow, by the way, NOT an omg that's wierd wow.. ) Umm I would be concerned too. All I can say is to bring her to bed with you and try to break the habit? I don't know but that's what i'd do..
Good luck! and Congrats on your baby girl and Welcome!
1lilpeanut2love replied: I dunno!! I have never seen a child do that. Since my daughter was old enough to turn to her stomach she sleeps on her stomach and on her back. You cannot keep them from turning over. I hope you can figure this out. So sorry I am really no help.
shelbysmom replied: HUMMM. Shelby is now almost 8 months old and ends up on her tummy at night to sleep. She just rolls right over. I am not concerned for she can push up on her arms and roll back over. Maybe ask the ped. if you can put her to sleep at night on her tummy? I believe that would stop her from slumping over, it seems like she wants to sleep on her tummy? Stacey
My3LilMonkeys replied: Madison sleeps like that on occasion too. My ped said that she is old enough that SIDS isn't so much of an issue anymore - I'm pretty sure 9 months is past the dangerous stage also.
redchief replied: Ricky used to do that all the time too. According to what I've read, at your baby's age, unless there is a history of gastric reflux or airway problems, this position shouldn't be a danger as long as there's nothing in bed that can block her airway. I think Rick got it from me... I can often sleep better sitting up than lying down.
Edward's Mommy replied: Edward sleeps like that too! I usually just check and make sure he's breathing and then let him sleep.
EvesMom replied: My little brother used to sleep like that. He is now 25, It didn't hurt him any.

I am such a new mom but if it were Annika I would be concerned also. I think I would much rather her be on her tummy then slumped over like that. Maybe it's comfy for her.
Our Lil' Family replied: Thomas used to sleep like that too. I think she's fine....at this age SIDS isn't as much of a concern as when she was a newborn.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I'm sorry - that pic made me crack up!!!
My DD#1 does this sometimes. She's done it since about 7 months old. I still find her like that sometimes, and she's 2 1/2
ZandersMama replied: my boy has done that for so long, its too funny. No worries i think, if they are confortable, kids are weird. my boy also used to stick his legs out through the bars of the crib and sleep sideway
My2Beauties replied: At 9 months SIDS isn't a real concern, there is hardly any chance of something happening to her as far as SIDS goes at her age. I wouldn't worry about it, just check on her throughout the night, is really all you can do,I don't think you can really stop it from happening My daughter slept on her stomach from 10 months on, I always find her laying on her belly. I think sometimes it makes their little tummies feel better if they are upset.
