Is 7 too young

I looked at it today and it is REALLY descriptive. I'm just not sure when to introduce some of these things.
grapfruit replied: Is she asking yet? Or has she been having any "changes" yet?? I'd wait TBH w/you. Wait until she's either asking or you NEED to tell her.
grapfruit replied: I guess I should of asked descriptive about what?
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Well, it starts off with talking about how to take care of yourself. From washing your hair to trimming your nails and keeping them clean. Skincare for face, brushing your teeth, etc. Which I think would be good for her to know. She needs to know the importance of keeping up her appearance and why we do these things. But when I flipped to the back of the book it shows how to insert a tampon and it SHOWS everything. I was really shocked!!
I just didn't know if anyone else had gotten this for their daughter around this age. She doesn't really ask questions, but we are pretty open about certain things.
moped replied: Personally I say 7 is too young........
gr33n3y3z replied: Then I would give it to her She needs to know right Just remember Katie got her AF at the age of 9 Katie knew about EVERYTHING before 10
grapfruit replied: Hmm, I think I'd skip on that book. Just b/c of the part at the back. I agree the other parts she should know. But you probably do a good job teaching her there.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I forgot to add that I searched everywhere in the book for a recommended age and there wasn't one.
moped replied: I was going to ask if there was an age on it - but I don't recall books having such a thing.....
grapfruit replied: Is this the book?
It says 8 and up
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Yeah, that's it. Thanks!
A&A'smommy replied: I think I would wait one more year... I think my mom introduced me to that "stuff" when I was 8.. and even then I was
Jamison'smama replied: I think it would be good to have on hand---you could go through the book together and read what is appropriate and then put it away until the next thing.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I think that's a great idea!
maestra replied: I was just about to say this! I've read the book, and I know what you mean. Some Bath and Body Works stores carry it, because they have an American Girl line for girls. It's pretty good, but I would also keep it and pull it out when it was time to "talk"
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I thought of that, also. It does kind of 'graduate' into some of the other topics. So this would work perfectly. Thanks ladies!
Calimama replied: I agree!
