Infection in the Blood - but the fever broke

Kirstenmumof3 wrote: sleep.gif One of the doctors from Infectious Deases came to see us today. Spencer has an infection in his blood and if it they can't get it under control they would need to remove his central line. They say that the infection starts in the gut and since he has sores in his stomach this is probably where it has started. They have increased the level of his morphine drip, but he is still quite miserable.

mckayleesmom replied: Awww...the poor guy. I hope they clear it up soon. Hugs and prayers to him. hug.gif

CosmetologyMommy replied: hug.gif to u and ur family. I hope ur son can a least sleep.

CAMSMOM1 replied: I'm so sorry Kirstin. What does it mean when they need to remove his central line? What can they do for him to help him with this?

Keep the faith sweetie & don't lose heart. Know that your heavenly Father is with you and Spencer. He will never leave you nor forsake you. I will continue to hold you both up in my prayers. hug.gif

MamaJAM replied: Poor kiddo. hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif I hope they can clear it up without having to remove the central line. Continued prayers for his speedy healing. hug.gif

jcc64 replied: I'm so sorry Kirstin. I think with these sorts of invasive procedures, it's not uncommon for 1 step forward, then 2 steps back. It sounds like he's receiving very good care, and for now, you just need to look at these complications as small steps on his way to getting well. I hope they are making him comfortable. Be strong- you can do this.

amymom replied: Prayers being said. Take care.

My3LilMonkeys replied: hug.gif hug.gif I hope that this minor setback can be cleared up soon!

Kirstenmumof3 replied:
They have him on IV antibiotics and if they pull the line at some point another one would need to be inserted. Every hour things change. It's just so scary sometimes you never know what will happen next!

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I vividly remember that hour by hour feeling. Not quite to this extent, but to some. Anyhow, if they have to remove his central line he'll probably have an IV or 2 (possibly more) put in his arms or hands. They try to avoid taking a central line, they are so much more convenient and easier than sticking little people over and over. I hope the antibiotics clear this bug up soon. If you can, could you PM me with the name of the bacteria they grew out of his blood. Just lab curiosity. If you are busy and I know you are, don't worry about it. hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif
