Infant Acne?? Or something else??

Mom2Boyz wrote: About a week ago, Caden got what looked like just a little baby zit. I didn't think too much of it at the time, but a few days later he kept getting more and more of them. At one point he had about 30 "ZITS" on his little face. I called the peds office on Wednesday, and they said it was more than likely just infant acne, to leave it alone, and it would go away. Well, today he's still got the little "zits" plus his skin on his face is really really dry and rough and bright red. I'm thinking I may just take him in to see the dr in the morning rather than talk to one of the nurses at the dr office. But I don't want to take him up there and look like an idiot when they say that's all it is.
I've attatched a pic of what it looks like. Sorry it's kind of big blush.gif
What would you do????

A&A'smommy replied: I don't know but it doesn't really look like something to be TOO worried about BUT if you do take him they may give you something to help clear it up!!! BTW he is such a cutie pie!! wub.gif

stanleygirl replied: Could it be excema? Kinda looks like what Kieran gets and he has excema.
Hope it clears up!!

amynicole21 replied: Doesn't look like infant acne to me - it's too red. Might be eczema, but I'd take him in to be sure it's not an allergic reaction or something. Poor guy sad.gif

huggybugboy replied: How old is he? When Miles was 2 weeks, he broke out really bad too. I blamed it on all the antibiotics they pumped me full of. I might take him to the doc just in case...you can never be too sure.

redchief replied: Actually that looks to me like Rosacea. It's usually inherited (for instance, I have it and so do three of my four children).

Mom2Boyz replied: Thanks guys smile.gif I wasn't able to get Caden in to see the dr yesterday, and it isn't getting any better, so I'm going to call in the morning and try to get him in.
Thanks for that link redchief thumb.gif that really does look like what he has!!! we'll have to see what the dr says.

A&A'smommy replied: Keep us posted, hopefully you will be able to get it cleared up quickly!!

moped replied: It looks a bit like baby acne, Jack hasd that about that age, but it wan't quite that red, then my nephew had excema that was red..............I would take him him - does it seem to be bothering him?

My2Beauties replied: I agree with Rosacea or Eczema. Hanna has eczema and her face was constantly broken out when she was a newborn!

Kaitlin'smom replied: it looks exactually what happend when Kait had baby acne, first ti was the little bumps all over then red and dry, looked just liked that. I was told to use vasaline on it twice a day morning then night, I did and in 3 days oh what an inprovement. I have pics at home I can post one so you can see it looks the same. I also was told later you can use aqudifor (sp).

amynicole21 replied: I did want to mention that I put Balmax on Nora's face when she had infant acne and the redness went away within a few hours. Try it and see what happens...

Mom2Boyz replied: When we got up today, it had started to clear up tremendously from what it did look like, so I didn't even try to get him in to see the ped. I'm guessing that it is just acne, because now he's got a few "zits" under his chin, and on his neck. I havn't put anything on it, I've just been washing it with water a few times a day. Thanks everyone for all of the input!!
Hopefully it will be all cleared up VERY soon.
I do have some Balmex on hand, so I may try that and see what happens.
