Indigestion.... - UGH....
MyLuvBugs wrote: I'm not nauseous I've just got the WORST indigestion. I'm eating tums like they're going out of style, but nothing is helping. I've read articles that Yogurt is suppose to help, but it's not. And potatoe chips helped when I was PG with Lorelei, but they aren't now. HELP.
Insanemomof3 replied: Prilosec (sp?) A little spendy, but taken once a day seems to help me. I have acid reflux BAD and that is what helps me.
MyLuvBugs replied: Can you take that while Pregnant? I hate taking drugs of any kind while PG. Having to buy Tums today even ticks me off.
TeagansMom609 replied: Do you have heartburn or just a yucky stomach? Tums will only really work if you have heartburn. Indigestion is a whole other ballgame. (for me atleast) The only thing that ever helped me is Zantac75 which is over the counter now. My Dr. told me I could take that when I was pregnant with Teagan. I didnt need it this time luckily. Yogurt is one of the last things I would eat if I had indigestion. Your stomach has a hard time digesting dairy when you have indigestion. It would most likely make it worse. Potato chips too are a big no-no for indigestion because grease can also make your stomach more upset.
My mom is a gastroenterology nurse, and she always tells me water is the best thing when you have indigestion. I would maybe snack on some bread since its bland and shouldnt irritate your tummy.
Hope you feel better!
pinniy replied: This may sound weird, but it worked for me. Honey, sometimes w/ saltines or bread, but it's the honey. I have reeeeeeeal bad GERD , and honey ALWAYS seemed to do the trick. It was just a suggestion that someone offered me, and luckily ...worked!
I hope the discomfort eases up for you.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: For a while when I was pregnant, the only thing that would calm my stomach and that burning feeling was pineapple. I can't explain why an acidic fruit would help, but it sure worked for me. Worked for my sister too.
Freckled Momma replied: I had bad indigestion and hearburn with all 4 pregnancies, but the first one I was sick almost daily...and my ob nurse told me to try Gaviscon Chewable Foam Tablets...sounds gross cause you have to let the foam build up in your mouth, but it was the only thing that worked for me to settle my stomach down. Other than that, I drank bottles of Mylanta and ate Tums.
Hope it gets better for you!
CantWait replied: Sometimes something sweet would help me. A chocolate chip or an oreo cookie, and a small piece of chocolate.
scattytart replied: well if you go by old wives tales indigestion means you have a baby with a lot of hair lol thought id mention it not that it helps.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: For a more natural aid, I was going to suggest pineapple too...it has a natural form of bromelin (sp?) in it which helps aid digestion. Papaya has the same thing. You can buy pineapple, papaya or just plain bromelin supplements at any health food store. Or just eat the raw fruit. Hot peppermint tea after a meal helps too.
MyLuvBugs replied: Thanks for the advice. It's not heartburn. You're right....Just an icky tummy. It just doesn't want to settle down. UGH. I feel hungry, but at the same time nothing looks good, tastes good, or settles my tummy. Just 7 more weeks....
A&A'smommy replied: I was going to suggest Zantac75 my sil had to take that when she was pg
MyLuvBugs replied: Probably not with the genetics in our families. lol But thanks!
MyLuvBugs replied: I'm not supposed to have pineapple b/c of the amount of sugar in it, but I will try anything at this point. Thanks for the advice. You both know I love all natural stuff!
huggybugboy replied: sounds like you got it figured out but I always had chocolate ice cream with a scoop of peanut butter on top. It was the only thing that cured my heart burn and other tummy ailments. the only problem was that it gave Miles the hiccups everytime...
