In your house....
My2Beauties wrote: name something that goes on in your house that most people might be surprised by? Can you guys tell I'm bored and trying to post stuff
In my house, it'd have to be that my husband does most of the cleaning Also, this may be weird to some, I don't stay on the kids about keeping their rooms clean. Hanna and Desiree's rooms are the only two rooms upstairs besides a half bath and hardly anyone goes up there except them, so their rooms (well Hanna's) stays pretty daggone messy. Aubrey's room...well she can't really destroy a room yet. I'm trying to think of some other stuff.
mckayleesmom replied: What goes on in our house...hmmmm
Well....if you walk in my house without notice there might be food on the floor from Russell.....He usually leaves a trail from messing in the fridge...I am constantly sweeping and sometimes I give up till he goes to bed.
A&A'smommy replied: ummm in my house I rarely ever cook.. we either eat out of we heat something up mostly because I HATE doing dishes.
and I NEVER make my bed except when we are about to go to bed and that is just because dh use to work at a hotel and the beds HAVE to be made JUST right
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Hmmmm, can't think of much. DH does the dishes almost every night, but that's only because I always cook. And if he does the dishes, I bathe the kids, so it's not like I'm really off the hook.
kit_kats_mom replied: what a funny topic Leanne.
Let's see, My DH gives the girls baths and gets them ready for bed every night. If you come over un announced, you are likely to find all of the couch cushioins in a pile on the floor or spread out throughout the house as a "path".
I'm sure I'll think of others.
luvmykids replied: I'm getting to be that way about the kids rooms too......upstairs it's just their rooms and bathrooms...I go up and clean the bathrooms but I read an article that said it's good for kids to have some "domain" where they're in control and learn for themselves if they want it clean or messy. I liked that since it lets me off the hook, so we're going with it
But something suprising....hmmmmm.....if you walked in and just stood in the doorway you'd never know I actually clean
But seriously, you'd never know that we are BIG poker fans and have a "poker room" It's tucked away where you'd think the door was just a door to the garage, but it's actually a good sized room where DH has guys over for poker and that it's also where we both play online poker, a lot
CantWait replied: Umm the only thing I can think of, I light the BBQ, never dh, he can't get it to light
Calimama replied: None of it is shocking.
We have a cross in every room (sounds weird but I work it into the decor and most people never notice) with a yellow ribbon BEHIND it, you can't see it, but we know it's there for DH.
DH takes Miabella for an hour every night when he's home and they go to her room and play, read stories, destroy her room lol, but it's just THEIR time.
Come 4:45 you come over and there will be a little person sitting in the foyer waiting for daddy.. even when he's deployed.
I re-arrange our furniture all the time.
mckayleesmom replied: Right now if you came to our house it would be full of boxes...I quit unpacking around the same time I got my internet back.......conicidence??
lovemy2 replied: Be still my beating heart That has to be the sweetest thing I think I have EVER heard and I thought Olivia loved her Daddy because she calls him MY Daddy - he is never just Daddy - he is MY Daddy....
Kaitlin'smom replied: if you come by unannounce it looks like we had a great day of playing and NO cleaning, Kaitlins things would be ever where, we invte ople over sometimes just so we clean it all up. We do pick up but if we really want it clean we have to have people over Kaitlins room is a mess, all I require dirty clothes in the hamper, path to door bed and window. We have a game room with 2 pinballs, a mame (plays thousands of games and a jute box), golden t golf game, and a slot machine (fun coins only). I think thats it unless I think of something else.
lovemy2 replied: I got a shocker that goes on in my house -
I DO ALL THE CLEANING - really - seriously - ALL the cleaning - with the exception of an occasional vacuum and laundry basket brought upstairs....but that is ONLY when I ask Do you feel sorry for me? You should believe me you should
mckayleesmom replied: I do all the cleaning too....so no..I don't feel sorry for you...I feel sorry for US...
I even take the garbage out...roll it out on trash day and half the time I mow the lawn.
coasterqueen replied: Well if you came over unannouced, you'd see that we probably haven't cleaned the bathrooms in months. The toilets are gross. Dh and I are just WAY too lazy to clean them. I think I may tackle them on my Friday afternoon off this week -- I said MAYBE.
You'd find that I didn't make my bed this morning - sometimes i do, sometimes i don't.
Um, I can't think of anything else right at this moment.
lovemy2 replied: I drew the line on that when we moved - since we are in a "nice" neighboorhood where we have to act like grownups - DH doesn't let the lawn go - garbage - well yeah I have to do that too - he used to have time to take it out in the AM before work on garbage days but obviously in the TWO years they have been coming at 6:45 he hasn't figured out yet that he won't have enough time in the am so he should take it out at nite....he is pretty slow - you know that show "Think you are smarter than a fifth grader?" we play "so you think you are smarter than a 43 year old in my house"
Gosh I am on a roll today
Anthony275 replied: i have to clean my room for the cleaning lady... the furnature matches everything it seems like every 6 months something new is being worked on or something everything has a regular door except my room
MoonMama replied: Gosh I don't think there is anything really "surprising"....
My kid had WAY to many toys...really.
I am royally anal and OCD about EVERYTHING, and I do mean EVERYTHING.
DH knows better then to touch most things because I HAVE to have them a certain way.
My "BIG kid" has way too many "toys" too.
I'm a germ-a-fobic.
Ok here is a good one I have hand sanitizer EVERYWHERE! Alway with me when I go out too.
My DVD's and CD's are all in a certain order and know if someone messed with them.
I tend to do things most people don't do daily multiple times a day.
Like I said I have serious OCD.
sparkys2boys replied: Hmm, ok here goes
The cat is always on the counter.. always.. I think he is flooraphobic The kids are always playin war on the counter.. like they dont have a playroom That I have EVERYTHING in its place all the time, I will clean up around you if I have to..lol The tv is always on, even if noone is in the room watching it
grandma replied: Just let me say, I LOVE this thread.....lol
Crystalina replied: If you came into my house unannounced you'd think we lived in a barn! The only way to enter (besides going through the back door which is in our bedroom) would be the mudroom and I have about 5 bails of straw stacked up against the wall. I had them delivered and I wasn't home so the guy dropped them by the front door and it was just easier for me to haul them in the mudroom then across the yard to the barn. We use them for DH's hunting dogs and if I put them in the barn the chickens roost on them and they leave chicken poo everywhere so I'm thinking I may just leave them in the mudroom. BUT the house smells like straw the minute you walk in and there are little straw straggles all over the floor. It doesn't bother me and the kids enjoy playing on them but it is quiet a "WTH?" when someone comes up to the door and sees that right away. Straw all on the floor. (and yes, it gets carried throughout the house )
Thank goodness we don't get much company.
My2Beauties replied: About the TV...so true in my house. At any given time, Hanna's TV would be on in her room, Desiree's on in her bedroom, the one in the livingroom, the kitchen and our bedroom all at the same time I swear and Hanna and Desiree will be in the basement, DH will be in the kitchen talking to me while I watch TV or vice versa with him in the livingroom and me talking to him and no one will be in our bedroom.
Crystalina replied: OMG, that is so funny about the t.v.
When I turn mine off and D.H. or the kids notice the first thing they say is, "What's wrong with the t.v.?"
Uh...I turned it off!
sparkys2boys replied: Right now I am in the rec room, kids in the kitchen.. yes on the counter with the cat and the tv upstairs is on AND the one in the livingroom.
PrairieMom replied: you would never believe how much dog hair we have. its just gross. He sheds in clumps. It acutally makes hair drifts in the kitchen. Also, if you ever visit, please please don't look in my kitchen sink, or around the base of my toilet, or try to walk in the backyard. Esp in the spring after all the snow melts and there is 6 months of poo from a 80 pound do g out there.
Kaitlin'smom replied: okay you all who leave TV's on all the time do you also have pets? LOL maybe they need it on as much as you do. But seriously turn them OFF save some energy and a little on your bills you can do
PrairieMom replied:
grandma replied: I love that confession! I'll have to do mine tomorrow. You all are so normal.......
sparkys2boys replied: Ummm I think we all just got in troubel..lol I wont mention names right..
Crystal My2Beauties
Ohhhhhh we in sooooo much trouble.. ok who started this thread
Kaitlin'smom replied: I used to leave them on as well, for the cats ya thats it they were watching it.
I just hate lights left on in my house it drives me crazy, if your last to leave the room turn it off, sheesh how hard is it? sorry that my personal pet peve at home.
coasterqueen replied: Ok, I will admit to having the tvs on in the house, but only when i'm cleaning. Then I have it on in the kitchen, livingroom, and our bedroom. But I think I'm safe because I rarely clean.
sparkys2boys replied: Honesty is the best policy
Anthony275 replied: i always have my tv on. my remote broke by falling way too many times so the power button won't work along with the return button...so i just put it to input when i go to sleep. the screen is black for some reason, so i never really notice most of the time that it's on or not
DillsMommy replied: Awww... that brought tears to my eyes.
Crystalina replied: I keep mine on because DH is usually gone and I need grown ups! I need the news and grown-up shows because my life is 100% kids. When I'm not home I leave it on because the yorkies behave a bit more when the t.v. is on.
As for lights...I turn those off all the time. Right now I have only the light above the stove on...and the t.v.
luvmykids replied: See, now that suprises me. I would expect your house to be spotless at any given moment......I'm so relieved
And Di, that is my pet peeve too.......lights or tv on for no reason drives me crazy
My3LilMonkeys replied: This is too funny....here goes.....
If you come between the hours of 10am and 10 pm you'd think we never clean....I just let it be a disaster until the girls pick up their toys before bed then pick up everything else before I go to bed.
There is always a cat somewhere unexpected - on top of the china cabinet or the computer monitor mostly.
The TV is on almost all the time - and I watch lots of stupid stuff, like dumb reality shows and reruns of things like Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Saved by the Bell
If you looked in my master bathroom you'd know I can't keep up on laundry....My entire oversized tub is full of dirty laundry.
No matter how recently I've vacuumed...the living room is always full of crumbs cause we all eat in it most of the time.
If you walk in unannounced you'll find me shoving Madison into her room until I can get her decently covered - that girl is naked 24/7...
MotherForever2043 replied: I am the same way!!!!
*Except the Cd's thing. I only alphabatize them. I don't think I would really notice if someone changed one though.
1. I label practicly EVERYTHING. 2. I color code the closet, cabinets (kitchen and Laundry room), clothes. 3. All my plants are fake. 4. When people leave their shoes at the door, they HAVE to line them up by type, and have to be against the wall.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: My kids rooms are always clean...they do it themselves. Even Naomie. Mine, not so much.
All our towels and all of MY clothes have to be folded a certain way, or I wig out.
At any given time, if you come over unannounced, you'd think I was in the middle of cooking/baking... i use so much stuff all the time that some things just stay on the counter.
You'd also see a HUGE pile of yarn / needles / patterns in a corner of my living room.
We have a music room. My piano is upstairs in the living room, but I have 2 violins and 4 guitars in the music room, with a keyboard, some stands, and about 3 boxes of sheet music.
We only have 1 tv... in our living room. We have a 54" in the basement that we pretty much only use to play videogames if one of us is watching the tv in the living room...whichi s pretty rare actually. I don't know why we bother with paying for service.
MoonMama replied: I thought of another.
I am an over organizer, when I'm in a bad mood or mad I will re-organize. Sometimes it doesn't look at all different.
PrairieMom replied: No doubt! That really surprises me.
austins mom replied: ok me and my hubby normally sleep in seperate rooms. not becasue we are mad at each other just cause we sleep better that way
jcc64 replied: My 12 yo ds's room is waste deep, literally, in dirty/clean clothes, books, stuff, etc.. If he wants to live in that, more power to him. Only once in awhile will I crack the whip with my kids about their rooms. Luckily 2 of the 3 are by nature fairly organized and neat.
I allow my kids to play ball in the house, even baseball. (though, obviously, only in a certain spot where there are no windows.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Okay, just thought of one that if you came over unannounced, you would think I was REALLY WIERD!! Well I have a horrible habit of picking my cuticles until they bleed (I've confessed this before)...Well in hopes to stop the habit, I wear those 99cent gloves on my hands while at home. I have several pairs, some with holes in the fingers, all in different rooms. I do take them off to cook, change diapers and of course to use the bathroom myself, but I do most things with them on. I know, very odd. It is cold in my house, but not that cold!
See I'm probably strange in the sense that our beds are always made and I rarely have anything on the floor. I'm the type to pick crumbs off the floor immediately after someone drops them. The kids rooms are neat too. I actually wish I could be more relaxed sometimes and just let it go.......
kit_kats_mom replied: That's not that weird. We have two beds and most nights one of us can be found in each of them. We both snore...badly We start the night off in the same bed but usually one of us will get up and move in the middle of the night.
A&A'smommy replied: if you come in my house you will see that I never show anyone the laundry room because ummm its also the junk room I will be so glad to get that room cleaned out
AlexsPajamaMama replied: Alex stays in his pajamas all day
My cats have torn a whole in the side of the couch and my little white cat spends most of the day inside the couch
I have tons of clean clothes piled in a laundry basket in my room because my dresser is full...and Im too lazy to organize it and put things away
My3LilMonkeys replied: We had that problem with our old box spring - our cats tore a hole in it and would climb around inside them while we were sleeping at night.
MotherForever2043 replied: OMG! I have the same habit!! I never knew someone who did that (other than me). My cuticles are so disgusting I don't know what to do.
PrairieMom replied: Me too me too. I found that if my nails grow out longer the cuticles get better. I try to use lotion on them too, that helps a lot. I had french tips put on for my sisters wedding back in october that that whole process really hashed my nails, so my cuticles have been horrid since then. They are finally now just starting to get better.
