Important lesson... If you go to the $1 store - to save $
MommyToAshley wrote: Then don't take your baby. hehe. I thought I would just pick up some cheapy invitations for Ashley's birthday party... they have some pretty cute ones at the $1 Store. However, I ended up spending more than I would have at the Hallmark Store because I took Ashley. She found some things that she just HAD to have and I can't believe I caved in. I hope I am not going to be one of those Mommies that caves in all the time, but she was just sooo darn cute. And, most of the stuff she picked out were books, so they are educational too.
mckayleesmom replied: sometimes stuff at the dollar store is also more expensive then a regular store, unless it is and exclusive dollar or less store.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: OMG the same thing happened to me just before christmas! I can't believe how much money I spent at the Dollar Store!
Heather replied: I know! I love the dollar store! They are so awesome. It is amazing some of the things you can get there for cheap. I can spend a fortune there too.
I am afraid I am going to be the same way with Alison. It is scary..think I might need to get a second job...
MomToJade&Jordan replied: The last time I went into a dollar store Jade came out with a bright orange and green baton. It really wasn't my fault, one of the little boys I was with handed it to her and she wanted it. I have to keep it away from her now because she likes to beat things with it, including me.
mckayleesmom replied: LOL....maybe Jade is going to play baseball.
coasterqueen replied: That's so funny becuz I didn't think I would be this way either and so did DH. Kylie saw a dolly the other day and cried when I took it away from her at the store. So DH said "it's only 5 bucks, you can have it". And this was from the man who said "We are not spoiling our kids WHATSOEVER!!".
KatieLeigh79 replied: Its good John doesn't know what a dollar store is yet...im afraid its me that has the obession, every time we drive past one im always saying "oohh dollar store lets stop i want to see what im missing!" in fact for our wedding in 00 i ended up spending over 150.00 in one because they had all the party favors/bubbles in a great price so i was just buying them by the case... when i go in its a deal of "try and not spoil mommy!"
supermom replied: Teehee - Anders is really funny this way (been this way since he was old enough to complain). Sometimes he'll pick stuff up to look at it, and then when we get ready to leave, he'll decide it is something he can live without, and we'll go and put it back. Other times when he's just GOT to have it, he will not let go, no matter how much reasoning we try to use it doesn't work. We don't always cave, btu sometimes (since he DOES listen sometimes too) we try to compromise........
mckayleesmom replied: The dollar store always makes me think of this little boy that use to come in the Convenient store I worked in named Blake who was 4. Hi mom had a really bad gambling problem, and she would always come up and play the scratch off tickets. SHe would bring her 3 kids and one she was babysitting and she would stay up there for hours winning, putting it back,,buying more and the kids would get restless. The little boy she was babysitting would always come in the store and when she would buy the tickets he would say " oh no, not the tickets". I would crack up and she would always tell her kids not to tell daddy they were there. Well one day the little boy blake was getting anxious to go and finally told his mom that if she didn't take him to the dollar store for a toy that he was going to tell daddy about the tickets. I will never forget that..You know you have a gambling problem when your kid at 4 knows how to blackmail you. The funniest thing is, is her husband would come in earlier then her and play 5 dollars worth of them and tell us not to tell his wife cause she wouldn't want him wasting money, meanwhile when she bought them, she would spend 6 or 7 hundred dollars a week on them.
MamaMartie replied: I try not to go in the $1 store with my kids. They always find a million things they "have" to buy. I could drop $20 there pretty easily.
MomofTay&Sam replied: I love the $$ store! I think DH is abit embarrased when we go in. Now he seems to be adjusting and will even browse around. Believe it or not they have some good stuff!
MommyToAshley replied: LOL
