Imaginative play

She was playing with her Little People Noah's Arc toy and she would pick up one of the birds and say, "oh, Birdie's tummy hurt" and she would hug the birdie and give him "medicine" and kiss him, then put him down on the blanket and pat him and tell him it would be ok. Then she would do it all over again, talking to the birdie and asking him if he was ok, if his tummy hurt, etc. She was also getting the zebras to eat and telling them how yummy the food was. DH and I just looked at her in amazement because she never interacted like that with her toys before. She would put her babies to bed and pat them, but that was about the extent. What a little Mommy she is.
kit_kats_mom replied: LOL! K's started doing the same thing. The pink bird is "mommy bird" and the blue one is "daddy bird". Follows us around and talks in this really high pitched voice for the birds. They ask for juice and you have to reply directly to the bird or she gets really angry. LOL
She also wrapped daddy bird in a blanket yesterday and said he had an "owie on his nose" so I spent about an hour re wrapping him and kissing that stupid birds beak.
She puts her dolls to bed, tucks them in, kisses them, reads them stories and tells them "sweet dreams'. She then leaves the room and comes back later to wake them up from their nap.
They are only 2 days apart in age but I find it sort of interesting how "on the same page" Sophia and Katherine are.
jdkjd replied: Same here. The Hokey-Pokey Elmo is the mommy Elmo and a baby Elmo that we have is the baby. Very cute. Bailey was patting the baby Elmo to sleep the other day.
MomToMany replied: Yep, Hannah and Ethan love playing like this too. It's so cute to see them playing "Mommy" and "Daddy". I made sure to tell the older boys not to tease Ethan for playing with dolls, because they used to too!
ediep replied: oh how sweet!!!!
coasterqueen replied: Very sweet!
DansMom replied: My heart did little flips when I read your story, imagining the scene. How amazing---you can see her interacting with the toys as if she were parenting them. You can hear the things you might have said a million times. You must have turned to mush!
A&A'smommy replied: awwwiieee I'm looking forward to that I LOVE to watch young children play like that!
kimberley replied: aww how sweet! she is such a smart girl! wtg Phia!
Josie83 replied: That's so sweet . . . and Cary I was laughing at what you were saying about the big birds!! cassie isn't that into dolls and things, but she'll do things with us, like if Jason is nodding off on the settee (after a hard day's doing nothing, generally ) she'll sit next to hi 9or on him, let's face it) and pat his shoulder or rub his back, then kiss him and say "love you, don't let bed bugs bite" which is what we say to her. So sweet!! x x
MommyToAshley replied: Aweeee, how adorable!
They're just so cute at this age. Don't forget to try and get some of that on video. I tried to get Ashley microwaving some food and feeding Elmo some steak, but she saw the camera and stopped.
MomToMany replied: LOL, everytime I try videotaping Hannah, she has to come over and see Hannah, too.
