I'm scared. My dad is sick - need prayers(long post)

Emeraldsmom wrote: Hi everyone. Well, here is the story, my dad (hes 62) had been sick for about 2 weeks. He was just feeling really bad. Then he started getting the dry heaves and throwing up and diarreah. So he started going to the urgent care where he goes to the doctor. Well they just kept saying that it was just a stomach virus and to go home. Well he wasn't getting any better so he kept going back because he was just feeling so bad. He even lost five pounds and they told him it was a virus and he just had to wait it out. Well, on his 4th time there they said okay fine, we will do some blood work. Well at 8 PM they called him and said he needed to be admitted to the hospital right away. The sodium level in his body was dangerously low. So he went to the hospital on Sat. night and they started an Iv. Also he was very dehydrated. They said it was probably because he had been sick vomiting and stuff. And he was not really eating that much and just drinking a lot of water, and the water washed out all the sodium in his body. So on Monday, his sodium level was getting better and better but not quite where it should be, but they said if it kept getting better he could go home soon. Well on tuesday, all of a sudden it dropped again. It was 124, which is really low. I did some reasearch on the internet and it said that anything below 125 is extreamly dangerous and could cause coma and seizures. Well then it came up to 127. Which is still too low. They didn't know why it dropped. Well they did a chest x-ray and there was a spot on his lung. So they did a ct scan and found out it was a tumor, and he has swollen lymph nodes. They think it is probably cancer but are not totally sure yet. They are going to take a biopsy tomorrow morning, but won't know the results until like Wednesday of next week. I am soo scared. I am trying not to think the worst, but I have this horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach. You see, he has just stopped smoking cigarretes 3 months ago. He has smoked since he was like 11 years old! And guess why he stopped? Well, one day he was outside w/my mom and he was smoking. My dad is so in love w/my baby Emerald. So my mom turned to him and said: Do you want to see Emerald grow up. And he said: of coarse I do. And my mom said, well if you don't stop smoking you might not. From that exact day, he stopped cold turkey. But I guess it may have been too late. Emerald loves her grandpa so much. She always has a smile for him and loves to grab his beard. Its soo not fair that he is going through this. My mom thinks he will be okay, but like I said I have a bad feeling. I am trying to think positive. Me, my mom and Emerald were with him at the hospital all day today. Getting to see Emerald really cheered him up. But when I was in the hallway I heard him ask my mom if she thought he was going to die. Then he said he was scared and didnt want to die. I dont know what to think or do. Waiting for those results is going to seem like forever. Well, sorry for the long post. Thanks for reading it. Will all of you please, please say a prayer for my dad. I would really appreciate it. I'm so glad I was able to post on here and kind of let it all out. Thank you everyone.

The best you can do for him right now is to stay positive and remind him again and again how much you love him. And keep bringing dd around to see him, I know when my dad was sick his whole demeanor would change around his grandchildren. Best of luck, you're in my thoughts.

That makes me very angry that your dad kept going to the doctor and they would just dismiss him. mad.gif
