Im not going to apply for that house
mckayleesmom wrote: I hate houses you like are ran by realters......Im not going to pay 60 dollars for an application fee that I don't get back if we get denied. I think its should be outlawed to charge that much. The Military doesn't give us money for application fees...that would be gone out of our own pocket. We will just wait and look for something else.
luvbug00 replied: wow! 60? here it's only 30. or is that 30 each? we've waisted over 100 dollers on application fees and get rejected it stinks.
bettter luck soon!
mckayleesmom replied: Yes, its 30 each. But that is not the only insane thing I found. If you read their terms of agreement. If you are approved...you only have 72 hours to give them all their money or they relist it....that would be hard for us to do since we won't be there till the 1st. If they find any claims, bankruptsy's or collection notices within the last year....they automatically disqualify you and keep your money without even filing. That would disqualify us right away...we always get claims in the mail from Tricare because they were billed wrong...and we get collections all the time from bills tricare didn't pay because they weren't submitted right....So Im not wasting my money.
mammag replied: I hope you find something else you like!
Kaitlin'smom replied: I agree. The one time I let DH pick our place when we were renting it was with a realator company, they were not bad until we moved out. They were so nit picky and charged us for things that were in the year that were not ours. it took them 3-4 weeks to 'inspect it' from move out. I was sooo MAD never again.
lisar replied: I paid $100.00 for my mortgage application. But thats the only time I ever had to pay a fee and I thought that was crazy.
~~*Missi*~~ replied: you have to pay for application fees where you are from? We are selling our house and bid on a new house and the only thing we had to put down was the 10% of the closing costs which is refundable if the "sale" doesn't go thru IT BETTER, we have a contingency on the new house we have to sell this house first...
mckayleesmom replied: Yes, if we go through a realty company there is a fee...There are few places online that are for rent by the owner. Im sure there is more once we get out there and look in the paper instead of online.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Brianne, if you want I can look in the paper for you, and forward the info to you. They also have publications that I can thumb through for you, if you would like.
There are some rental ads for our paper, with some places in it. A couple on the first page (as far as I looked) are even in Gulf Breeze, and within may be within reason of the rental stipend the military will allow.
~~*Missi*~~ replied: WoW where are you from? We are going thru Gurney Becker & Bourne and we have no fees what so ever... except the 6% if the guy sells our house but the only thing we had to do otherwise was the 10% down for the new house(the new house is listed by RealtyUSA)....We live in WNY..... I don't think I would pay to be told sorry you can't have the house or even be told that i could thats crazy..... I never heard of that... We didn't even pay application fees when we bought this a year ago.... HUH odd how different areas work....
Good luck on the house hunt
~~*Missi*~~ replied: Is this because its a military thing? Or is that general practice here? i called my mom (who also is on the deed and she said she never heard of this either) that is why i ask...
youngmomofone replied: I didnt know you had to pay an application fee. Dh is military also and we've lived in base housing so far so we are clueless about that kind of stuff.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Not to step in on Brianne's post, and answers. But usually with realty companies and their rentals you have a application fee. That fee usually covers the credit checks that they run, and gives them a little profit, I believe. This is typical for rentals, not necessarily home buying. Apartment complexes even do the same.
For Rent By Owners- may and may not have an application fee, and they may or may not run a credit check.
mckayleesmom replied: Exactly.....Thats why I usually try to go with people that are renting their homes themselves.....that way if they deny us...we are not out any $$'s. Where do you live? Its common practice everywhere I have lived....except maybe Illinois...they are a little more laid back there, but some places do.
mckayleesmom replied: We live on Post at Fort Knox right now and we really don't want to do post housing again.....too much nit picking when you move out.
Ashlynn's Mommy replied: That is soooooooooooooooo ridiculous. I wouldn't pay it either.
TheOaf66 replied: not to offend any realtors but I don't understand why they get so much money, they don't do that much in reality.
