Ice!
Crystalina wrote: I don't know why it is but every time I'm pg I crave ice. Ice chips to be exact. Does anyone else do this? When I'm not pg the ice melts in my glass and I never chew it but when I'm pg I don't even need a drink, just a glass of ice.
5littleladies replied: I always do this when I'm pregnant. When I was preggers with Alyssa(?) one of our local gas stations had the BEST ice and I would send dh out to get me a cup of it everyday.
A&A'smommy replied: LOL my friend did that when she was pg and her husband wouldn't go get her any ice so one night when she was on bed rest I went and got her some ice and now she is throwng me a baby shower
Crystalina replied: See! She remembered you! How sweet. I'm sure you bringing her the ice was very nice to her. I know how I am when I want it.
Bamamom replied: Sonic Ice - there is nothing better than Sonic Ice.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: When I worked at a fast food restuarant a preggo girl would come in 100 times a day for a big cup of ice
Crystalina replied: I found this. It has a name. I'm thankful it's only ice I crave after reading this!
What causes pica (cravings for non-food items during pregnancy)?
Some of the things on that list...cigarette butts?
~Roo'sMama~ replied:
Yeah it was Lissa - I remember because we were pg at the same time and Super America changed their ice halfway through our pg's.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Oooh! I just remembered how I bought you that Hawaiian shave ice maker when you were pregnant with Brianna. The rest of us would put the flavors on ours but you'd just eat the ice.
:.Mrs_Mommy.: replied: I craved ice really bad when I was preggo with Lily. My doc said it was because I was anemic. Maybe you should get that checked?
Calimama replied: I've heard that too.
Jadenyc replied: Oh I am loving ice!!! I am going on 31 weeks and I just love the taste of ice. I actually crave it like it was food. My mom tells me to stop becuase this causes dry skin on the baby. I try to stop but its just stronger than my willpower. I work in the hospital setting and nothing is better than the ice from the hospital ice machines. I Love It!! I could eat a whole cup of it. On my way home today I made my husband stop to get a bag of ice because I just craved it. It will go away. The same happened when I was pregnant with my son.
So don't feel alone out there!!!!
luvmykids replied: I was terrible about eating ice, especially with the twins...I ate a bag a day and if we ran out it was not pretty
The craving, for me, did come from anemia though so mention it to your doc.
Crystalina replied: I never thought about anemia. I'll have to check into that.
