Iain's follow up dr. visit

Schnoogly wrote: Iain saw the ped for the follow up visit for his eating problems and he is doing pretty well with the Alimentum (which I guess tastes better than the nutramigen since he is actually eating it without screaming). She was much better this time, and I was "testing" her to find out what kind of parenting advice she would give when I asked about his napping/sleeping problems. She did not tell us to let him cry it out (yay!) and said you can't spoil a baby at this age (yay again) and that he just needs to be held, which I knew. She also gave us a prescription for alimentum so we can see if our insurance co. will cover it!!! She said she would write down "severe colic" and "congenital heart disease" and hopefully they will pay for it--it is SOOO expensive. She did give us two cans of powder too. And she said he is doing really well--he gained .5 lb since last week, which is great since he only gained a pound in the 6 weeks after surgery. She also said we could try some yellow vegetables very slowly since he is doing OK with the alimentum (and he isn't so fond of rice cereal).

She got to see him all smiley, and then at his worst while I was getting him dressed--he was overtired--and we said "this is how he is for the hour before he takes a nap about 4-5 times a day. She just said he needs time to mature and recover from the surgery, which we already knew. Sigh.

But the feeding seems to be better--he will actually take bottles now instead of screaming. (Usually)

Yay!!

Schnoogly replied: Thanks!!! Also he sat up on his own, no support, yesterday for about 3 minutes!!! He propped himself up with a hand. Then he toppled over! (He was on our spare bed, so cushioned)
