Iain's cardiologist checkup
Schnoogly wrote: His heart is doing great! Some residual narrowing of his pulmonary valve, but we knew that. He has gained 1.5 lbs since his 1 year checkup 20 days ago!! He weighs 22lbs now. It must be the food he is actually eating now!! Plus he seems to be OK with dairy now. He has had cheese for a week or so and no tummy upset, so we tried regular milk and he loved it! Yeah!! Maybe we can start decreasing the formula finally.
His cardiologist totally ticked me off though when I asked about his sleeping/behavior problems. He said we're spoiling him. and offered NO solutions to help us. Well, it was a longshot anyway.
He was also pretty well behaved (for him) for his tests. He got his first taste of candy though--the tech gave him a lollipop before I could stop her and he really liked it (greeeeaaat!!) but it kept him quiet for a long time so she could do his echo.
amynicole21 replied: HOORAY! So glad that everything is sorting itself out! Great news about the dairy, too... getting them off of formula makes a world of difference! You get out of the house A LOT more quickly
Shame on that nurse for giving him sugar
~CrazieMama~ replied: So glad that he is doing better!!!!!
DansMom replied: That is great news! And 22 pounds---that's really reassuring weight gain. Way to grow Iain!! (I don't know when to start worrying again about Daniel as he's still stuck at 20.) Good news about the dairy too: it gives you so many more options!
jen replied: That is so great to hear!! WTG IAIN!!!
That is great news about his dairy tolerance as well!
That doctor should be ashamed of himself for jumping to the conclusion that Iain is just spoiled, what kind of help is that???
Well congratulations on the great news!!! It sounds like it is only going to get better and better!! I am so happy for you and your family and little Iain!!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: WAY TO GO IAIN! That all sounds so wonderful! Glad to hear that he is finally eating and tolerating dairy products! Keep up the Good Work!
kimberley replied: glad to hear things are looking good for Iain!!! hope he keeps gaining and eating well. to the dr for saying you are spoiling him. guess he was just the wrong person to ask.
CantWait replied: What a ton of great great news. Congrats on everything

coasterqueen replied: Oh that is such great news! WTGrow Iain!!!!! And great news on his cardiologist checkup Shame on the doc for saying you are spoiling him. Grrrrrr.
LOL on the candy Kylie gets offered suckers all the time when we go out to eat or at the doc. So unfortunately I can't say no once she sees them giving it to her She really doesn't get them often, but she does love a sucker! Hehehehe
Kaitlin'smom replied: thats great news! Its so much easier with out formula, heck when I got Kaitlin total off it she started sleeping through the night! Maybe he will sleep better once he is totaly off it?
kit_kats_mom replied: I'm so gald he is doing well. Maybe the eating thing is just a thing that they will get over. Katherine sure is eating better...still not like a normal baby, but much better than she was.
Boooooo to the doc for saying that. It drives me nuts when people say that about K.
From Websters online: spoil
\Spoil\, v. i. 1. To practice plunder or robbery.
Outlaws, which, lurking in woods, used to break forth to rob and spoil. --Spenser.
2. To lose the valuable qualities; to be corrupted; to decay; as, fruit will soon spoil in warm weather.
I would think that according to def #2, that you are in fact imparting valuable qualities like security and intimacy rather than corrupting him. JMHO.
I think I'm going to rip this page out of the dictionary and carry it around with me so when the next person says I'm spoiling her, I can read it off word for word.
paradisemommy replied: Way To Go, Iain!!! Woo Hoo for having such an awesome appt. phlllltttttttt (that's my attempt at sticking my tongue out) do the doc..what a jerk...and also to the nurse who gave him the candy...
aspenblue1 replied: Thats great WTG Iain.
MomToMany replied: Wow! I'm so glad he's doing much better, and finally gaining weight!! Way to grow, Iain !!
Here's to that nurse !! You'd think that they would ASK first before handing stuff like that out !
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Wow! That is so great about his weight gain! I'm glad the appt went well.
My doctor told me you can't spoil a baby. What do they know about being spoiled? He is still too young to spoil even though he is a toddler now. Phooey on him!!!
That is too funny about the sucker. I bet he thought he was in heaven. Just as long as you aren't the one offering one all the time he should be okay.
