IUD....my poor friend - thought I would share.

mckayleesmom wrote: Ok...as most of you know...My doctor wanted me to get an IUD after Mckaylee was born? I refused it because I don't like the thought of something in my body like that....and because of that...I now have a cute little son named Russell wub.gif laugh.gif . My doctor also told me there were no real side effects dry.gif . Anyways....My friend got one about 2 months ago and she had really bad cramping afterwards....the cramping continued for a long time and she finally asked the doctor to take it out a couple weeks ago. The doctor went to remove it and it was gone huh.gif . They did an xray and ultra sound to try to find it. Guess where it is? It tore through her uterus and is behind her uterus. Guess how they have to get it out? Surgery. Nice huh? Moral of the story is...Don't believe your doctor when they there are no risks but a little cramping after. They said this is the first time they have seen this happen, but it is common for them to fall out. blink.gif My friend has the worst luck.

luvmykids replied: hug.gif Sorry for your friend. Even if it didn't get lost, and just fell out, a lot of help that is, huh?! Hope she's ok.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif That's freaky. Your poor friend! sad.gif

moped replied: Oh gosh!!! Now I won't be checking into that!!!!!

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Poor girl!!! That is why I take the pill!!

amymom replied: Oh My! hug.gif Prayers for your friend!

C&K*s Mommie replied: ohmy.gif That is awful for your friend. hug.gif

I still stick by my experience with an IUD, which is really all good news. No babies are on the way, no cramping, nothing to report at all. Just worry free days until it is time to make a decision in 3 yrs on what next. unsure.gif

Makenzi'sMom replied: I too have the IUD, when I first had it, I had no problems. I loved it. Since I had it put back in, I have had 2 Yinfections and a horrible UTI and I have only had it back in for about 2 months now. They also could never find mine and always have to have a ultrasound. I mainly did it for the fact that periods for me due to the VulvaDenyia I have make them unbearable at times.

CAMSMOM1 replied: I'm glad you posted this. I was thinking about getting an IUD. My doctor has highly suggessted it since I had Cameron. (right now, I'm not on any birth control.) But I do know some people have good experiences with it like Nicole. But it does sound so risky.

Can your friend have children after this? How bad is her uterus? I'm glad she followed her gut, and went to the doctor. (most people wouldn't since cramping is normal in the beginning.) I pray her surgery goes well.

But I'm seriously having 2nd thoughts about IUD's now. I guess birth control just isn't for me, nothing works well for me. Thank God for condoms! happy.gif

CosmetologyMommy replied: thanks for the info. I was going to get one because I thought it was better than remembering a pill everyday.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I still stand by my IUD too. I think the incidence of them falling out is pretty darn small, I don't have to take a pill or add hormones by any other means, and like Brianne said, her friend's doctor said it was the first time he'd heard of it. It was and still is the perfect choice for me.

My2Beauties replied: Oh that is terrible ohmy.gif You know my brother's mom (dad's ex-wife, ok long story for those of you who haven't heard me talk of him, I have a half-brother who is a couple years older than me, but we hardly ever see each other sad.gif ) anyways, she had an IUD and it did something to her to where she can never have kids again, she had to have a full hysterectomy. sad.gif

kimberley replied: ohmy.gif omg that is scary! your poor friend! i am sooooooo glad i took that off my list of options. i am like you, don't like the idea of a foreign thing living in me except a baby happy.gif
