I win - The worst mommy of the day award!

PrairieMom wrote: I totally win. Ugh. I can't believe what I did. banghead.gif
Actually this happened on wed, but it is still eating me up!
I took the kids to the zoo and had Lexi in her bucket seat in the stroller, she was fussy so I was alternating carrying her and laying her in bucket. Anyway, when we were going home I put her in the car, and when we got home I carried her bucket into the house. Since she was sleeping I just left her on the counter. about 1/2 hour later she woke up and I went to get her out. I HADDN"T BUCKLED HER IN! OMG. I carried her over cement in the parking lot, and in the garage, and she could have slid out of the carrier at any time! ohmy.gif mad.gif I am SO mad at myself! Thank God nothing happened!
it is so easy for me to get distracted anymore, trying to deal with both kids. mad.gif I sure learned my lesson. I feel so bad! Thinking about what could have happened makes me want to puke.gif I'm double checking seat belts from now on.

TheOaf66 replied: don't beat yourself up to bad, now something positive came out of it, so just be happy nothing happened and move on, you're not super human so sometimes you may forget things, happens to us all. thumb.gif

PrairieMom replied: I just hate when I do some bone head thing that I would yell at my DH for doing. mad.gif

TheOaf66 replied:
well next time think of this before you yell at your DH for something he does.

Trying to help a fellow DH out who gets nagged at for doing something wrong tongue.gif

Well you know you are a good mommy when it bothers you that much! And you have learned your lesson and thats the important part right!
hug.gif hug.gif It's okay Tara, we all make "bone head" mistakes

MomToJade&Jordan replied: You are not the worst Mommy in the world. I did this myself not to long ago with Jade's carseat. I got Jordan in and then just got in the car and drove away. Thank goodness Jade had the presence of mind to say Mommy I'm not buckled so we didn't get too far. I felt like the worst Mommy in the world that day. It's so easy to get distracted with having two children. You all got home safely and that is the most important part. hug.gif

holley79 replied: That's ok I did one worse. The day my first CCP quit I put Annika in her seat while I gathered up all of her stuff. Well I put the seat in the truck and went home. She was not strapped in. When I got home and saw Annika wasn't strapped in I just bawled my eyes out. hug.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: Before you beat yourself up, let me tell you a couple stories.

First, a story similar to Holley's...one time (recently actually) on our way to Walmart I forgot to fasten Tanner's seatbelt (he's in a booster). Luckily we didn't get into an accident, but if we did, he would have went flying. Totally felt like an idiot! blush.gif

Second, when Tanner was a baby I locked him in the car accidentally in the middle of winter. After work (when I ran a large daycare) I went to go put him in his carseat. Before realizing my door was still locked, I locked his door up and closed it, with the keys in the ignition. Thank God one of the other daycare dads was in the parking lot and had a coathanger just for emergenices like that. I about had a heartattack for about 10 minutes before he showed up. blush.gif

Now...does that make you feel any better? We all make mistakes and we learn from them. smile.gif

mckayleesmom replied: I think that many of us have done that before. One time I went with my sister to the mall when Mckaylee was a baby. My sister never takes her keys out of the car...she just uses her electric door pad thing to open the car. We got out there and her car wouldn't open. I had Mckaylee in my hands so I set her in her bucket at my feet. We waited an hour for the car to reset....my brother must have pushed the wrong code and the car thought someone was trying to break in. Finally we get it unlocked and everybody in....We get all the way home and I realize I never buckled her up.....I cried and cried...I felt horrible.

holley79 replied: See Tara, we have all done it sweetie. hug.gif Guess we all get an award. sleep.gif

PrairieMom replied:
Isn't it funny how you try so hard to keep your babies safe and in a blink something like that can happen?

mckayleesmom replied:
Yes....its a horrible thought, but thank God they had guardian angels watching over them and they were safe when the mommy's noticed.

ashtonsmama replied: The same thing happened to me with Ashton the other day. I felt absolutely horrid and it made me want to puke too thinking about the possibilites of what could have happened.
bawling.gif
I didn't say anything because I was so in shock and felt so stupid. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's done that...
wacko.gif

luvmykids replied: After the kids visited their grandparents I put all the car seats back in my car, buckled Macie in and drove 3 hours home. When we got home and I lifted her out, the car seat came with her which meant I never strapped the car seat in!!! We drove three hours with her buckled into a carseat that would have flown Lord knows where with her strapped in it bawling.gif It honestly took me months to forgive myself that one.

We've all been there hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif

Bamamom replied: My OB told me about his wife who put the car seat on top of the car while she was putting other stuff in the backseat, got in and started down the driveway WITH THE CARSEAT STILL ON TOP OF THE CAR. He ran and stopped her before she got to the end of the drive. Now I always check to make sure the car seat is in the back seat.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Tara~BTDT!!! Please don't beat yourself up! hug.gif We have all made mistakes that could have turned out badly sad.gif

Amen girlie!

amynicole21 replied: I've done it, too wink.gif

My2Beauties replied: Honey don't feel bad we've all BTDT. I'll never forget the time, Hanna was only like 6 weeks old, it was around Christmas, so I've got her in the car on the way to the mall. She was always very good in the car, she hardly ever cried in the car at all. So, I had just turned in the mall parking lot when she just absolutely started screaming her head off and I'm in the front seat going shhh baby it's ok momma will get you out in a minute, it's alright. Meanwhile, the parking lot is completley packed (Christmastime) and I'm trying to hard to find a spot, I started to wonder why she was crying sooo loud, getting louder and louder, finally I slowed down and looked back. I had put a little pink snowhat on her like a ski hat or whatever they're called and it was a little too big, well when we got in the car I always always took it off of her because it was a bit too big for her and I had forgotten to take it off, it was all the way down around her face, down to her neck. I freaked out, I mean freaked. I stopped my car, got out and ran to the back seat to take it off her face. To think, at 6 weeks old it could have really smothered her. I was so upset...so hon we've all been down that I'm a terrible mommy road - it happens! hug.gif

A&A'smommy replied: hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif Those things happen to the best of us!!!

MoonMama replied: hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif
