I was so wrong!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes wrote: I had this total fantasy that my kids would nap at the same time so that I could either get some "me" time in or take a nap myself! WRONG!!! Wil is sleeping, but Wesley is now up and wants to play. I have him in his bouncy seat next to me, which seems to be working for now, but he definitely likes to be held way more than Wil ever did. Gosh that sounded bad...I love holding my kids, but I feel like I can't get a minute to myself or get on here anymore!
Anyhow, since I'm posting and I probably won't get to do much more of it...Here's a question totally unrelated to what I wrote above! LOL! When did you start giving your kids gas drops? I never gave them to Wil. I didn't like the idea of giving him anything medicine related and he really didn't have a problem with gas, but Wesley is Mister Tooty Patooty!!! Both DH and I were up with him early this morning because he was making this funny sound (not crying) and not sleeping. He just seemed uncmortable and couldn't setle down. I pulled out the box of Milicon (sp?) drops that has been in my medicine cabinet for "just in case" situations, but I was afraid to give it to him. It says "safe for the newest newborns" on the box, but I'm still a bit worried. What do you think?
AlexsPajamaMama replied: Alex was a very gassy baby...not fun...and I gave them to him when he was quite little. Good Luck hun!
redchief replied: BTDTGT Sorry, it will get better.
BAC'sMom replied: Things will get better.
coasterqueen replied: I warned you about that whole dream of them sleeping at the same time. Sucks! I know. They are just now starting to take naps around the same time.
I think it's safe to give them to him. I can't remember when I gave them to both girls, but I know it was earlier w/Megan because of her reflux and not knowing it was that.
mammag replied: I haven't given them to any of mine but I did babysit for several kids that got them right off the bat.
BabyOwen427 replied: just remember the simethicone in the mylecon is not absorbed into the body, it just breaks up the gas bubbles.
also try 'bicycling' his legs, using his knees to press his stomach, it will help move the intestinal contents.

PrairieMom replied: Alexis is on the drops already. She has horrible gas, and when she lets loose is scares her then she starts screaming!
MyLuvBugs replied: We started Lorelei on Mylacon drops before she was a month old b/c she was so gassy and has the reflux and stuff. The LC I had said it was perfectly safe.
Jamison'smama replied: From what I understand, they are safe from the beginning. I used them right away and was SO GLAD when I finally did. They are very safe--just pops those bubbles..like was said above, they don't get absorbed like regular medicine.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Okay, great! I will go ahead and try the drops on him! Thanks everyone!
BTW, just as I was typing the original post, Wesley fell asleep!! So I ran upstairs with him (well I didn't actually run) and crawled into bed myself....BUT a second later, Wil woke up from his nap! Go figure...Plus I had forgot that the cable guy was coming by, so he would have woke me up anyway...Rats! I'm never going to get any sleep, huh?
coasterqueen replied:
Nope, not til they are 18!
boyohboyohboy replied: I keep telling myself the same thing, except when I first brought Jake home from the hosp, I said to myself, well when jake sleeps and caleb takes his afternoon nap, I can sleep then! well then they never napped at the same time, so then it was well when Jake goes to bed early and calebs normal time is 7p, I can sleep early, well Jake is up till 10pm most nights. So now its well when caleb goes to kindergarden, and its just Jake and I at home, maybe then I can sleep with him. I am not giving up hope!
holley79 replied: Tra I jsut had to when I read this. Annika use to do the same thing. She didn't scream though she would just get this bug eyed look on her face. Now that she's a little older she laughs.
Rae, I hope it gets better hun.
Bamamom replied: My OB and the nurses and my Ped all assured me that Mylicon is totally safe - from the moment they are born. As a matter of fact they said that if he was still fussy after 10 minutes to give him more - you cannot OD them on Mylicon because it is not absorbed into their system. HTH!
luvmykids replied: I hope they gradually move to the same nap schedules, it took some work but I got all three napping at once for about a year and it was heaven. But those days are loooong gone
Hope you're getting some sleep somehow anyway
redchief replied: I'm supposed to be sleeping now? Hmmm... they don't come home until midnight in the summer... I can't sleep until I know they're home safe... even if they are 18. Sorry.
