I wanted to say on the topic of the V - Points of getting your tubes tied

TANNER'S MOM wrote: I just wanted to say most women say it's easier than getting your tubes tied. I witnessed a V,then had my tubes tied.

I just wanted to say I had my tubes tied with no problmeem. It wasn't painful it was fine. I was scared from the anthesia but other than that the next day I was fine...I think it was easy. A small whole in my belly button and no more babies..

I just wanted to point out it's a personal experience..but I can't say one is easier than the other...but cheaper yes

Our Lil' Family replied: I'm thinking about doing this after our next one. I just worry about regret. I think either way (boy or girl) our next is our last and I've already had a c-section so *if* I go that route again it'll be super easy for them to just tie them while they are in there.....but I always go back to the thought of a third child....I'm probably crazy!

jcc64 replied: I believe that a vasectomy can be performed as an outpatient procedure, and now can somehow be done without a scalpel, though I admit I don't know how that is possible. (heard an ad for it on the radio the other day). According to this ad, the patient can return to work that same day. A tubal ligation seems alot more invasive- requires a general and a hospital stay. It is a personal choice, but what I told my dh is- I did my part for this family, physically speaking- now it's your turn to step up to the plate, big boy.

Our Lil' Family replied: What do you do if your DH REFUSES! It's like he's scared he'll lose his manhood, even though MANY of his friends have told him how easy it was. He just REFUSES to even talk about it.

Troy, I see you reading this....how can I convince him?

coasterqueen replied: The biggest thing for me is it's much easier to reverse a vasectomy than it is to reverse a tubal ligation. I KNOW you can reverse a v, but am not quite sure at all if you can reverse a tubal. That is why I want DH to get it done.

Our Lil' Family replied: Both can be reversed, I'm just not sure which one would be more successful.

3xsthefun replied: My aunt had a tubal done after she had her second son back in 94. Well she thought she was done having kids. But she was getting that feeling she wanted to have another baby. She went to have them undone almost 2 years ago. Unfortunely, she is still not pregnant. sleep.gif I hope everyday it will be her turn to be pregnant again.

Sorry if that got off topic.

If I was to have another C-section this go around I was going have my tubes tied. My doctor gave me the choice to have another c-section or have the baby vbac. I mentioned something about getting my tubes tied if I had a c-section. But he told me not to let that be my only reason for having one. He said he could tie my tubes after I had the baby.

So we are still undecided what to do. In away I would rather DH just go through with the "V" but then again I think about just getting my tubes done. Because I know that I don't want anymore kids even if I should get remarried.

PrairieMom replied: When the time comes for us, Dh will be getting the big V. We both agree. If I can go through pregnancy and child birth it is the VERY least he can do to go to a Dr's office and have a minimally invasive same day procedure.

BAC'sMom replied: I was scheduled to have my tubes tied the day after I had Ansley (31) but I ended up chickening out as the were wheeling me the operating room. blink.gif I am glad I did because now we have Callum. biggrin.gif The day I had Callum (35) I had my tubes tied with no regrets. I have a small incision tucked into the navel you can’t even see it. It did not cause any more pain than I was already in from delivering. wink.gif

My2Beauties replied: OK I have a couple of questions as DH is thinking about the Big V, I've heard from 2-3 people now that having a vasectomy raises their chances of having prostate cancer?? Anyone heard of this, I need to google it, but I wondered if any of you had ever heard of this.

As far as tubal litigation, I won't do it. My mother and my aunt both had one done and ever since it was done they have the most horrible menstrual cycles you could imagine. My mom floods, her doctors told her some women have this as a side effect to a tubal litigation. My aunt has been to the hospital before over her heavy flows, it's that bad, so since that seems to run in my family I will not be going there. If DH decides not to have the Big V then I'll just have to find some other form of BC, but I hate to do this because it seems like they all give me side effects.

luvmykids replied:
I think it depends on how they do the tubal...mine was done where they actually removed the tips of each tube and caterized them so they couldn't even be reattached if I wanted them to because they just wouldn't reach.

I had mine done the day after I had Macie, so I had an extra days stay but no problems after...I was a little sore but couldn't tell if it was because I'd just given birth or because of the tubal.

Cece00 replied: I had a tubal during my csection with our 4th child. I've had no issues whatsoever from it and I really recommend it if you are DONE having kids and your husband is a chicken OR if you are already having a csection.

Our Lil' Family replied: I read today that they now have something they can add to your tube to reattach it, instead of it trying to grow back...does that make sense? Like a fake tube....that's how some reversals are done.

Did anyone else notice that the ads on this page are about tubals and vasectomies? Or am I just slow at catching that?

mckayleesmom replied: Well....if I would have known the problems that my dh would have had after his V...I would have just got my tubes tied.....Make sure you and your husband do the reasearch on the risks of a V. They told me and dh that it was a simple proceedure and we didn't question it.....He had his done 2 months after Russell was born and he still ends up in the ER every other month since.

TANNER'S MOM replied: Oh my tubal wasn't a hospital stay.. it was a one day surgery... I went home about 30 minutes after the procedure.

I have a friend whose wife had a tubal and instead of going for the reversal they are doing in vitro.. she has the stats but says it's pretty effective but again expensive.

TheOaf66 replied:
well number one tell him to quit being a baby
number two tell him that it is a small price to pay since you gave birth
number 3 it is an outpatient procedure and is cheaper

number 4 and the best weapon you have tell him if he wants to have sex again he better get it done biggrin.gif
