I want this to be a good Christmas, but...

MyBrownEyedBoy wrote: I have no idea what to get Logan for Christmas. Aaron and I made a deal that no toys would be purchased as he has too many already. But yesterday, I took a huge bin full of toys to Good Will. And I can't imagine a Christmas without at least one toy. I can probably get Aaron to agree to one. But what do you get a 2 year old boy? I would love to get him a toy piano, he loves music. But I can't seem to find any. Another idea is a chalkboard/easel that he can draw and color with. He likes that too. I don't want to do more cars and I am definately not getting him a stuffed animal. What do you think?

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I think a toy piano isn't a toy, it's a musical instrument. wink.gif

At least, that's what you can tell Aaron! rolling_smile.gif

Calimama replied: There hasnt been a toy on TV or in a store that he's seen and asked for?

MyBrownEyedBoy replied:
You are so completely right. wink.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied:
He's only two. Right now all he asks for is Dumbo, over and over again. We already own that. All I hear is "Efffant, efffant, efffant."

Calimama replied:
Awwwwwwwwwwwww. wub.gif Anyway here's a bunch of different kinds of toy piano's at Target:

Ellie replied: I bought my nephew this:

mom21kid2dogs replied: There's a really cute game on the market called Elefun. He might like that if he's not particularly oral. My 3 yr old nephew plays it with O all the time. They just try to catch the butterflies in their hands or a bowl. Dog ate the original nets tongue.gif It's a "game" not a toy!! wink.gif

We got O a rather cheap electronic piano at 2. It was annoying as heck but she loved it!!! wub.gif

Calimama replied:
That's cute! I may need one for my nephew.. his mom will KILL me though. tongue.gif

skinkybaby replied: My inlaws got Grace an easel last year and she still loves it. She's always wanting to color or paint on it.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Forgot to mention... the one I had gotten Zach was from Walmart, for 10$. It' really cute... had different beats, a little bench, a microphone...

and an OFF switch. rolling_smile.gif

redplaydoh replied: What about Lego Duplo blocks or Mega blocks? Those are "manipulatives" that you can add to later as he learns to work with them more.

CantWait replied: I got Anthony Wooden building blocks last year for Christmas (I'm pretty sure it was Christmas), he loves building towers with them and knocking them over.

The Elefun game is another good choice. You can get it at TRU.

I think any games, puzzles, books etc is a good idea. I also got Anthony an art/chalk board easle for Christmas this year.

Ellie replied:
My sister told me to get it. She's not allowed to kill me.

Of course, she probably has a drum set or something awful for Ginger.

mom2my2cuties replied: What about Educational Toys?

Does he like Story Books? There is this TJ Bearnstien (or something like that) that reads to the kids and helps them.

What about something that will add on to his current knowledge?

They have this really cute learn to play piano thing that plugs into the TV - REALLY cute.

Also V-Smile baby is great for that age smile.gif

ediep replied: Jason got a toy piano last year, it might be the same one that Rocky mentioned...it has a bench, microphone, and different buttons with sounds and beats. He loved it!

At 2, Jason got little people Noah's ark, pots and pans, toy lawn mower, Barney sippy cup and dish set, DVDs

AlexsPajamaMama replied:
I have a 2.5 year old and he hasnt asked for anything either. I ask him all the time what toy do you want Santa to bring you and he tells me every time, Momma I have nuff toys!! Seriously! He told MIL he wants new underwear for Christmas!

We got him an easel with chalk board and dry erase....thomas the train stuff to add to the set he already has...play doh...markers and paper...play food for his talking kitchen...

AlexsPajamaMama replied:
I think it was Kmart that I saw little pianos....Alex saw a guitar and calls them Be Tars, its too cute! rolling_smile.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Kelly we are having the same problem with both of our children. We only get them 3 things each, but it's pretty sad when you can't think of 3 things they need. happy.gif Maddie made out her list, but none of it seems 'special', kwim? This year is just tough for some reason. tongue.gif

I want to get Ethan some sort of drum (a real drum.) I also thought about dinosaurs. He's definitely getting underwear. laugh.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: So far he has 4 shirts, 1 pair of jammies, 4 books and a DVD under the tree. Once the GPs start sending their gifts the tree will look much fuller. But I'm still getting him a piano I think. I'll go get it after this singing thing I have to do tonight. Logan will be with Aaron. I am also going to wrap up the Disney movies from the movie club and put them under the tree. I have thought about buying myself a portable DVD player that attaches to the back of the seat in the car. That way, it's a present for me. It keeps him occupied on long car trips and saves my sanity.
