I think it's time for me to pick another state - to call home

coasterqueen wrote: After yesterday's primary election in Illinois I think it's clear to me I need to move to another state. I'm dumbfounded at the election result totals and really fear for the outcome I see in our November election. mad.gif

Anyone else have a state they recommend for me to call home?

luvbug00 replied: I'm all lost when it comes to politics but If you want warm how about texas or virginia here is nice.. "virginia is for lovers.." emlaugh.gif

kayla's mama replied: Well...I'l tell you one place you don't want to live....Tennessee, well Memphis to be exact. We have political problems that are just out of this world blink.gif

I agree with happymom....Virginia. You have mountains on one side and the beach on the other. It couldn't get any better wink.gif

5littleladies replied: Well from what I know of your political views, I don't think you want to move to MN. We were the only state to NOT vote for Regean in the 1984 election if that tells you anything. rolleyes.gif

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I didn't vote, I forgot. blush.gif

coasterqueen replied:
Oh poo on you Sarah. I'm not sure what your political views are, though, so maybe it was a good thing you didn't vote. happy.gif cool.gif

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Well I don't like the current govener!!!!

luvmykids replied: I would say NM, but we're overrun with political idiots. I'm already prepared for November, I can see how nasty and ridiculous the mud slinging is going to be and my blood pressure goes through the roof just thinking about it. I plan on checking out a lot of library books.

coasterqueen replied:
Woohoo! SO glad you said that. tongue.gif What my fear is he might just stay our governor a bit longer. dry.gif

booey2 replied: You could always come up here to Canada. smile.gif

coasterqueen replied:
laugh.gif That is a thought, but I so do like our health care system (well parts of it).

booey2 replied: Ours isn't too bad up here.(health care that is) - winters are another story altogether. rolling_smile.gif

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Well I guess I know who we will vote for in November for Gov. LOL emlaugh.gif My Dh cannot stand the current Gov. so he will vote for the other canitdate too.

coasterqueen replied:
Most definitely. I'm just as shocked at the election totals for the Republican side as well. I won't go any further than that on the subject. Just that I'm shocked. Course I'll come out and say I voted for the Repub that won anyways, but that's beside the point. happy.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: You can come to Ohio we have weird weather year round laugh.gif but make sure you are close to me so we can do things together. smile.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: idontknow.gif if our Governor has term limits, but if he does then his time will be up soon, I am sure. He has been in office for some time now.

So come on down to Florida. smile.gif Depending on what you are looking for we may not have much to offer, besides sun and water, but it is where I call home, so I cannot bash my own homestate, ya know. wink.gif

coasterqueen replied: Yeah, I really don't like to bash my own state either but since we got this governor it's gotten BAD. I live in the capitol of our state and that's where the legislature meets. It's also where the governor's mansion is and that's where the governor is supposed to live. Well our governor chose to live in Chicago instead and moved a TON of our city/state jobs up there. This state likes to think that Chicago IS the state and I'm getting sick of it. Seriously. I won't be suprised in my lifetime if the legislature doesn't start meeting in Chicago instead of my home area. mad.gif

redchief replied: How bad can Illinois be? I definitely wouldn't recommend NJ. We have the market cornered on really bad governors here. At least I thought we did... Let's see, our last five govs.:

Corzine - Multimillionaire who apparently thinks we're all well off.
Cody - Not elected and changed the rules on almost everything while in office of acting gov.
McGreevy - The laughing stock of national politics after blackmailed into admitting he was gay and then resigning; giving us Cody.
Whitman - Cut taxes so deeply NJ went into deep debt we may never get out of.
Florio - Took care of all of his cronies nicely while he allowed the state to go H E DoubleHockeySticks.
Kean - The last decent governor this sorry state had.

National politics are bad... Let me know if you find a suitable state. wink.gif

coasterqueen replied: Yeah politics are just bad in general. This state is SO dirty w/politics. I think we are ranked PRETTY high when it comes to dirty politics. Governor George Ryan ring a bell? He's got a really nice trial going on right now. rolleyes.gif

I think it's just because Chicago is SO huge that when it comes to voting they make up the majority of the votes and it's SO Democratic up there with Cook County so we don't have a chance a lot of time. With this governor moving more and more jobs/government up to Chicago, the rest of the state doesn't have a chance. IF government moves entirely to Chicago, Illinois capitol will cease to exist. Our city is PRIMARILY all state jobs here and they are going bye bye every minute with this governor. And to see that people voted for this guy AGAIN makes me sick.

You might be worried too. Our governor G-rod as he's called is priming himself to run for president. He doesn't give 2 hoots about our state, just how good he looks to get to the presidency.

C&K*s Mommie replied: okay.... after NJ and what Ed wrote only 49 more to choose from. I could not say much about Governor Bush, I have heard everything on both the negative and positive side of it, and I have not taken the time to sort through it all.

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Old Gov. Ryan lives 3 houses down from the lady that cuts my hair. I wonder what the verdict will be on him.

redchief replied:
We have exactly the same problem in North Jersey with Newark and Jersey City (AKA Little New York City). Us conservative southerners really don't get much say in Trenton.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about your Gov. Ryan.

Chiflata2003 replied: I love Texas. You dont have to pay state taxes and in stores you only pay store tax and not state when you buy stuff. I lived there until August 31 but then my family and me had to move to Louisiana because that is where my dh's orders sent him, unfortunately.

Cece00 replied: Dont come here (Louisiana).

Besides still having LOTS of issues (political, financial, and otherwise) left over from the hurricane....well, people like Ray Nagin (aka Mr. Chocolate City) and Gov. Blanco (aka Mrs. I Cry On TV & Say Stupid Crap, Too) are in charge. Ick.

We have some severe idiots running our state.

J-rod replied: WV be ok....we're so behind in times....the bad crap hits us last. LOL

i dont follow politics..... but im actually gonna go vote this yr for the first time in my life. hahahha

CosmetologyMommy replied: I am in Illinois too and the district around me was trying to pass a referendum to raise property taxes and it passed.........

coasterqueen replied:
Yeah, that's not always so bad, though. If it REALLY is going to the schools (I'm assuming that was the referendum) then it's worth it, but in our district a lot of times the money gets blown on stupid stuff and I stopped voting Yes for them until they get their spending under control.

My3LilMonkeys replied: Well I'm not big on politics so I can't help too much.

However, if you are related to any politicians in Northeastern PA, you'll get a high paying job that you're not qualified for in a second. rolleyes.gif

holley79 replied: Come on down to Pensacola. Nicole and I would love to have you. rolling_smile.gif

huggybugboy replied: you could live in CA laugh.gif politics anyone?

5littleladies replied: If we are talking strictly governors then by all means move to MN. Our current governor is awesome! I seriously hope he runs for president someday. happy.gif

coasterqueen replied:
Who's your governor Jennifer? I might have to look into him. happy.gif

5littleladies replied: Tim Pawlenty. He is absolutely wonderful. Definitely look him up-He has been a breath of fresh air here in MN. smile.gif

Bee_Kay replied: Jennifer-
I completely agree.
It's hard to believe that it's been over 3 years since Paul Wellstone died. That was such a tragedy.

Whereabouts in MN are you?

5littleladies replied:
I know! That was such a shock!

I'm about 45 minutes south of the Twin Cities, just a few miles off of 35.

Bee_Kay replied: Oh yeah! I remember that now (you asked me awhile ago what part of MN I am in) smile.gif
