I think I'm going to end up heading to - urgent care

mckayleesmom wrote: 2 Summer's ago when I was visiting my mom in Arizona me and my sister went walking to different yardsales. I have really sensitive lips and whenever I get a fever or stay out to long in the sun I will get blisters. Needless to say my lips got so blistered that I ended up in the ER...It looked like someone had seriously bashed my mouth in with a baseball bat. They burned like crazy. They gave me these pills that I had to take 5 times a day to get rid of it. I thought that it only got that serious because I went walking in the Arizona sun...I had never had that happen before that bad.....BOY WAS I WRONG.

Anyway, the other day I went to the Mum fest with the kids, it wasn't terribly hot out but by the end of the day I could feel my lips starting to burn and I also was getting a migraine....Fast forward to today and its almost a repeat of that summer. It's not half as bad right now, but bad enough. There is nothing more embarrassing them a blister....OH WAIT..yes there is...when your whole mouth turns into one.... growl.gif

I read in a medical magazine that they are seeing an increase in damage to lips due to lip gloss and certain lip sticks. Most people think that these items have sunscreen but the opposites is actually true. The ingredients actually intensify the damaging UV rays. I just thought I would share what I read with you. I don't know if you wear a lot of lip gloss or lip stick, but if you do, you might want to switch to a lipstick that has sunscreen in it.

A&A'smommy replied: hug.gif hug.gif girl when you are out in the sun you need to wear some lip stick with sunscreen in them or just put some straight sunscreen on them. I hope they heal on their own

mckayleesmom replied: I do use chapstick with sunscreen....it just doesn't help. Abreeva is a joke to my lips...that stuff doesn't work for me.

I never new that about lipstick and chapstick Dee dee. I know this time I think the only reason why they are not as bad as before is because I haven't used anything on them. The doctor said the reason that they got so bad before was because of all the medications I tried on them...it just made them super irritated instead.

This time I have just been using a fragrance free chapstick and putting a boiled teabag on them to sooth them.

However I did make a stupid mistake earlier which really caused them to be irritated...I was looking up home remedies earlier (thats where I got the teabag idea). I read somewhere that aloe can help them..I didn't have straight aloe..just some aloe inside some burn cream...I used it....What a stupid mistake. Now they are bright red and inflamed... wacko.gif

I don't really think it was the sun that caused it this time. I think that when I had the migraine I also was running a fever... rolleyes.gif It really wasn't that sunny out and I stayed in the shade alot anyways.
