I think I'm enjoying this lesson stuff

I have 3 piano students, one of which is also a violin student, and tonight was my first lesson to a voice student. So that's 5 hours a week of lesson giving... at 16$ an hour...that's 80$ extra in my pocket at the end of the week...
Doesn't seem like all that much... but I'd only have to work 56 hours in a month giving lessons to make the same money i'm making doing daycare for 2 kids...
If things go my way, I hope to have about 10 students taking an hour class and about 5 doing half hour classes... bringing in about 200$ a week... I could live with that as opposed to having to deal with those daycare brats all day long
luvmykids replied: Good for you! I hope it happens quickly for you, I don't know how you do the daycare thing. I barely have enough patience for my own kids
Calimama replied: Awesome!!
CantWait replied: Sounds great Rocky, good luck.
A&A'smommy replied: Thats AWESOME Rocky!!!!!

Lessons here go for 25.00 a lesson and up also for an hour. I'm glad you are enjoying what your doing bc it makes it well worth it
mom21kid2dogs replied: Big shortage here, too, of voice & piano teachers! Very Cool!!!
redplaydoh replied: That's great! I hope it works out for you... then you wouldn't have to deal with those nosey inspectors at 5pm!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: To be completely honest, the kids tend to stay out of my face more when there are more of them around. They play with each other.
As for the cost.... here, lessons go for around 16$ for 30 minutes usually. I have my Conservatory and all that fun stuff... but since I'm teaching in my own home, and may or may not be inconveninced by the noise 3 kids make, AND I'm just starting out... I figure I'd get more students this way. It's just extra for now... if I end up "making a living" off of it, then yes, newer students will be charged more.
msoulz replied: Sounds like you need to get out of that business if that is how you feel. I hope this works well for you!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Oh I do. My patience is running out. I suppose things would be a little better if I had daycare kids that weren't such a pain in my a....
hoosier momma replied: Good luck and hopefully it will become your new business. I just don't know how anyone does the daycare routine, but I am thankful for all of you who do.
