I need advice!

aspenblue1 wrote: As some of you may remember my blood pressure has been going up and down during this pregnancy. Well for about the last week my eye has been twitching I feel so stressed out that I can not function except to take care of Isabella. I couldn't go to work yesterday due to the constant crying and I am starting it again today. I tried to talk to my ob about this on wensday when he basically told me I was nuts about my bp because it is highly unlikely that you would have bp issues with your second child. So I do not know what to do. I was thinking of calling my regular doctor and seeing if I could get into see her but I am not sure what to do. I know I can not go into work like this. As stressed as I am I would probably tell someone exactly what to do with themselves. Which would be a bad thing.

Boys r us replied: Oh no! I'm sorry that you're having to deal with this! being pregnant can be a really trying time!
While I don't really have any advice on the symptoms you're having, I will say that if you don't feel comfortable with the level of care you're receiving from your doctor, don't just accept it, find a doctor who will treat you like a person who has feelings and concerns(rightfully so..after all you are there discussing your health and that of your unborn baby!).

kimberley replied: (((hugs))) sweetie. i agree with Nichole. if you are not comfortable with this doc, find another one. don't let them just disregard your legitimate concerns. is it possible to take some time off from work for a little while? this stress is not healthy for either of you. i hope you feel better soon. grouphug.gif

aspenblue1 replied: I called my family doctor and she wants to see me so I am going there at 2:15 today. I will let you know what she says.

Kaitlin'smom replied: good, I was going to tell you to go see another doctor.

MomToMany replied: Wow, ITA you should see someone else. I hope it goes well!! P&PT's for you!!

mom21kid2dogs replied: Not to be disrespectful, but do you think your doc got his degree from a mail order place? His advice is totally incorrect. PIHBP can occur in any pregnancy and , if not treated, can be extremely dangerous to both mother and baby. Do you have a cuff at home? Have you been documenting it at all? If not, you might get one. If you can't afford one (I think mine was about $35), I'd be happy to send you mine.

To be honest, other than the fatigue, I've not heard of the other symptoms being associated with BP but that still would be no reason to blow off any patient who feels her blood pressure is not right. I'd find another doc and get a cuff set.

MommyToAshley replied: I am glad you are going to see your doc. I think you should trust your instincts... more often than not, they are usually right. Your doc might also be able to recommend another OB.

I am sorry you are not feeling well, let us know what your doc says.

texasp3 replied: OMG... the quack said WHAT?????!!! Get away from that doctor!

Sorry, whoo - but his response really upsets me. I had minor BP problems with my first pregnancy and HUGE, HORRIBLE, stick me on bedrest and medication BP problems with my second!!! Gabriel was born via c-section a month early because after 5 weeks of high BPs, pre-term labor and bedrest... things finally blew up and I was very lucky to go into an eclampsic state while I was in the L&D being monitored. They just plopped me in the next c-section slot and Gabriel was born happy and healthy! It would have been a very different story if I had not had an attentive OB.

It's a very real, very serious problem that is also very managable IF you have a good doctor who is paying attention.

Anyway... jeez... I'll be curious to hear what your GP says.

coasterqueen replied: Yikes! Bad doctor! mad.gif How did you even know your bp was up if he didn't tell you? I'm confused there. huh.gif If he's not concerned, but you are then I'd seek another professional opinion. All this stress and worry is not good for you, the baby, or your family. grouphug.gif

~Roo'sMama~ replied: I'm sorry you're so stressed out - maybe taking some time off work is a good idea.
I'm glad you're going to see your other doctor. I hope she has some advice for you!! grouphug.gif

texasp3 replied: One more thing... in the bathroom at my OB's clinic, there is a poster listing the signs and symptoms that should trigger you to call the office immediately. The last thing on the list is "Anytime you feel like something is wrong."

aspenblue1 replied:
my bp was high last week when I went in and saw my ob then again on tuesday it went up and I went to krogers to have it checked, and it was very high I saw him on wens and he basically blew me off. I have been a stressful mess for a couple weeks now. MAinly due to my lovely employeer. Hopefully my family doctor will be able to help me today.

coasterqueen replied:
Aww I see now. I'd definitely see your regular doctor then. I know how you feel about employers causing so much stress. Mine is going to cause me so much stress all the way up until I deliver, although it's really the time of year it is for us not my actual employer causing me the stress. Well not most of the time, that is. tongue.gif

mom21kid2dogs replied:
Which numbers were high, the top or the bottom? A high top number is indicative of external factors, like stress, excess salt, etc. If the bottom number is drastically higher (I was told anything higher than 10 points above my previous readings) it is indicative of a physical problem~namely pre eclampsia or PIHBP, both of which are serious prenatal complications.
I'm very glad you got into see a doc today. Best of luck with it. I am serious about sending you my BP cuff. I'm 45 honey wink.gif I'm not gonna need it again!!

ammommy replied: I'm assuming that you are at your doc's right now. Please let us know what you find out. BP problems can be frightening.

mummy2girls replied: OMG! You can so get high blood pressure with a second pregnancy!!!!!!! Jordan i had high blood pressure and then with jenna i had it also but worse!!!!!!!!!

I think he is a QUACK!!!!!! OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!
