I may have caught a funnel cloud!
Crystalina wrote: I don't know how I'll ever know. We were driving home and in the midst of a bad bad storm. Well, I jumped out because I saw this cloud. What do you think? I didn't stick around because the wind was horrid. We took off in the opposite direction. We've had about 3 tornadoe watch/warnings within the past hour and a half. If you look at the pic it shows the cloud forming. I wanted to see if it would get long and touch the ground but that wasn't going to happen.

gr33n3y3z replied: looks like it could be the only thing I've ever seen were dirt devils and water spouts
Crystalina replied: I just wish I wouldn't have chickened out and stayed to see if it would touch the ground. We had the kids though and wanted to get out of there. The storms are still passing through the area.
Jamison'smama replied: Are you in the Columbus area? I heard that around Jeffersonville was horrible.
Crystalina replied: We are about an hour East of Columbus. They got the storm first and then it hits us. We didn't even hear about the storm because we we about 45 minutes away from home. We jumped off the interstate when I took these pics because it was getting too bad and I can't stand being on the interstate in a storm. It wasn't until we got home that we realized there were tornadoes touching down. We were out there goofing off.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: We get those all the time around here so for the sake of my sanity I am going to have to say- NO UHHUH NOT a FUNNEL CLOUD! They freak me out everytime!
Crystalina replied: Abbie, I'm sorry, call me a ditz but are you being sarcastic or saying it is not a funnel cloud? I really can't tell which. Sorry.
A&A'smommy replied: its possible but I kinda wanna say its not.. I see THOSE kinds of clouds ALL the time around here during bad weather but I have never seen an actually tornado thank goodness
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Oh sorry -It does look like a funnel. I was saying that since we get them around here I was denying it because they scare me when I see them and I pretend that is not what they are when I see them here I did not word that so well.....
Crystalina replied: That's alright. I just read that and couldn't understand which way you were going.
alyssa'smommy, I only want to say yes because I think it would be great to have caught one. DH and I joked about it being one and then we got home and found out what was going on with the tornadoes hitting down. More then likely it isn't but I'd like to think it was. It was very very possible tonight.
::ETA:: The shots were taken in sequence. If you look at the 3rd pic you can see that the funnel shape had tightend up alot compared to the very first pic where the clouds were just starting to come together. And it was moving pretty quickly.
A&A'smommy replied: omg VERY cool!!! and i would totally be jealous.. theres no telling though like I said I have never seen and ACTUAL tornado!!
Jamison'smama replied: Well there were tornado warnings all over the area--could very well be--the weather was ripe for it and some funnel clouds were spotted in that area---it is pouring here and the thunder is booming!
mom2my2cuties replied: VERY Cool!!!
I think your pictures look great! Personally I would have been wetting my pants
Crystalina replied: I was about one more lightning bolt away from doing that which is why I didn't stick around. The lightning was way to close for comfort.
mom2my2cuties replied: You just made me laugh to the point my daughter said "What Mom"
I am a BIG chicken when it comes to storms. I grew up in "Tornado Alley" and so I have always had a healthy fear of what those bad boys can do.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: It's definitely a funnel cloud.
coasterqueen replied: It could be, but I've never seen one like that. The only one I've seen up close is one that look "tighter" than that one. Cool pictures.
luvmykids replied: I think it is, I think they start out looser like that and tighten up as they increase in speed. Cool
MoonMama replied: Wow that is way cool, but I'm a chicken would have been running for cover.
Crystalina replied: I've only seen them on the news and I was really hoping it was. I'm going to take it as one. Much of the area is still without power because of the storms. If you look in the 3rd pic you'll see two trees in the middle of the pic. One is yellow and the one behind it is green. If you look at the green tree you'll notice that the branches are being pulled up towards the sky. Alot of the trees were moving funny but others weren't moving at all. If it was a "normal wind" the trees would all be blowing. Not only that is was earily calm except for the selective winds.
Kaitlin'smom replied: deffinalty looks like the start of soemthing.
MommyToAshley replied: Looks like one to me. Very scary... but cool pics.
redchief replied: That is a funnel cloud. No doubt in my mind.
