Maddie&EthansMom wrote: Tonight I asked the kids to help me pick up the house since I took them swimming this afternoon. Maddie jumps right in and does just as I ask her to. Ethan, not so much. So, I put him to bed early and had a talk with Maddie. I told her that it wouldn't always be that way, that he is young and one of these days she will get to do fun things while he has to sit at home. I was trying to explain that while it may not seem fair right now, that it all comes out in the wash. She looked at me and shrugged and said "So what, I'm a Christian and Christians obey their parents just as they obey God." She is getting it!!! I grabbed her up and hugged her...I told her that I would take her somewhere special on Sunday for her eagerness to obey and help me out. You should have seen this girl after I told her that!!! She was all over the house cleaning it. She also made a list of things she wants to do w/me on Sunday.
It just feels so awesome when you see it click in their little minds. I know a lot of that is from school as well. I'm so grateful that they teach her the same things at school that we teach her at home.
