I haven't been here in awhile!! - Alexis is such an angel!!

Bee_Kay wrote: Well, I absolutely love being a grandma!! I see that little angel everyday. Lacy comes home everyday with Alexis (something I didnt expect).

I think lack of sleep and stress were getting to Lacy so she asked if I would take Alexis overnight. My DH and I were skeptical, but we are firm believers about when moms need a break, family should step in and help. We did have our concerns with Alexis being so young, but it worked out and Lacy couldn't have been more grateful.

Well, Alexis and I had a WONDERFUL night together. She slept from midnight to 4am. Got up for 1/2 hour for a bottle and diaper change and then slept again until 8am.

She also gives me a little smile occasionally wub.gif

Lacy and I took Alexis to Tyler's first football game this school year. It appeard she liked the lights and the sounds, she was sooooooo content smile.gif

My DH and I were concerned because there have been a few times where Lacy and her BF were unable get Alexis to calm down and as soon as I take her, she settles right down. We were concerned that the bond that Alexis should be forming with Lacy, is getting misdirected to me...... but I explained to Lacy how babies are VERY in tune with people. If Lacy feels stress, Alexis will pick up on that.

I also explained how when Alexis cries, I don't let it get to me. I just smile and talk to her .... or sing (she likes my singing LOL).

Anyways, things are going great and I am having a wonderful time spending time with Alexis wub.gif

I'm glad you explained that to her. Babies are very smart and pick up on things like that so easily. Robbie was the same way with his mamita. She's a very stressful lady and he hated hated hated going to her.

Glad you're enjoying your new role as grandma. wub.gif wub.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: Glad things are going well, and the bond that you and Lacy had is coming back around, and also through Alexis.

She is a cutie! wub.gif

PrairieMom replied: When my Alexis crys and I can't calm her I just hold her and challenge her to cry louder! laugh.gif I say "I'm not scared of you! " in baby talk and say "you can scream louder yes you can! " it helps me diffuse the situation. Pretty soon she is either smiling at me or asleep. rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: She is beautiful. You are really lucky to have the opportunity to be with her so much. hug.gif

One tip for Lacy. Babies crying grates on my every last nerve and I can't help but get agitated by it. When the girls were younger, I'd just pop some earplugs in when they were wailing. I could still hear them but it took the "fingernails on the chalkboard" quality out of it and I was able to remain calm and be calming. Just let her know to keep the earplugs up high because they are a choking hazard. wink.gif
