C&K*s Mommie wrote: As you may have read, we our dog died in August of last yr. Chris just told me he is ready for another pet, so I went searching on Petfinder.com like you recco'd. And I immediately fell in love with the first few dogs I saw, I had to hold back because I was only on the first page of my searches. On the second page there is a golden retriever (named Blue wub.gif ) that is what I would love to have. He was abused sad.gif , but I he would not be here at our house. Called Chris, and told me to go check him out, in a town just north of us. I am so excited! rolling_smile.gif I am fixing to go get the girls dressed so we can leave and go see him or some other animals if he is no longer available. Here is some info about him that I wanted to share:

**Blue**
Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever Mix

Notes: Blue is a 10 month old family dog. He was found on the street as a baby suffering from several BB shot wounds. Despite that, he is the sweetest most lovable dog and has made a full recovery. He loves children and has a very sweet and calm demeanor. Blue gets along great with cats and other dogs. He has already had some obedience training and he is fully housebroken. Blue is micro chipped, neutered, and up to date with his shots. His adoption fee id $50.00.

This pet is up to date with routine shots.
This pet is already house trained.
This pet has been altered.

3xsthefun replied: Oh, he is beautiful! biggrin.gif Good luck! thumb.gif I hope that you all can adopt him.

By altered they mean he has been neutered.

Your Welcome! I thought you would love Petfinder. happy.gif I fall with the dogs on there all the time.

luvmykids replied: Oh, I wanted to cry about him being found with BB gun wounds!!!!! Who does that to a puppy? He looks so absolutely sweet and loveable, I hope he's the one! wub.gif

CAMSMOM1 replied: Golden Retrievers are excellent dogs! Very loyal, and good with children. I think you made a good choice! He's a cutie! wub.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: Well we did not go to that shelter, they have not called me back as of yet, and I cannot locate their address anywhere. sad.gif I am going to keep trying to get them on the phone.

But we did go to the county shelter, and I fell in love with every dog there. There were three pups, once seemed more timid than the other two, but they were sooooo adorable. They had been strays, and they were estimated to be about 5mos. They were shepphard or sheppard mix. But they were soooo sweet looking. It melted my heart, as soon as I saw them. love2.gif

Thanks for the posts, I hope to come back again with good news that we were able to adopt Blue or another dog. wub.gif wub.gif

3xsthefun replied: Good luck to you with which ever dog you adopt!

The shepherd puppies sound cute. Could you tell which was the runt? I heard that sometimes the runt of the litter is harder to care for. Did they say how the pups were with children?

It is hard going to a shelter or even just looking online at dogs at shelters. Because I usually end up falling in love with about all of them. If I could I'd have more dogs. But right now 4 is enough.

I forgot to ask, did they have a email address? If so maybe you could try emailing them?

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I'm in love, too!!! wub.gif What a precious dog!

C&K*s Mommie replied: I am such a dunce.gif in all my excitement about going there to the shelter in the town north of us, then the disappointment that they did not call me back, I overlooked the actual physical address. I just looked on the website and found an address. Just above the e-mail address!!! DUMMY me. blush.gif

3xsthefun replied: It may take them time to call you back then. I don't know. I know our humane society always has someone to answer phones unless the shelter is closed.

Sometimes though some shelters will email you back quicker, then they do by phone.

I'm sure the puppies would be ok with children. All puppies nip. Just have to teach them not to. That is so sad people drop off puppies like they are nothing.

mom21kid2dogs replied: wub.gif Awww . . .Blue is beautiful!! He reminds me alot of Bailey, who was alot more Labrador retriever than Golden. Bailey was by far the worst nipper I've ever had (add that to his stubborness and it was a problem) but we trained it out of him with a lot or work & consistency. It's just pretty much like kids in that regard! cool.gif

Personally, I love mixed breeds. It seems like they tend to get the better lot of their breeds! Good luck with whatever you choose. The vet was trying to talk me into a 4mo old white boxer today(luckily boxer are not a fav of mine)~it's hard to resist those little puppy faces!!!

BAC'sMom replied: We recently adopted a dog....she's the best dog I have ever been around.

MamaJAM replied: Hope your search is going...or went...well. Good Luck - can't wait to hear the news. thumb.gif
