I have an idea - for the get together/disneyworld
mckayleesmom wrote: Ok...Alot of people want to go to disneyworld and lets face it....its gonna be pricey. Also, some people don't want to go to a theme park because of the ages of the kids. Maybe we can do both.
Investigating online I found that an adult pass to Disneyworld would cost 46.67 for a 3 day hopper pass. A child age 3-9 would cost 39.67 each. Maybe there is some way that we can pair up with a person that has the same age kids....Some might have to buy an extra ticket if they have an extra kid or kids. On day 1 half the group can go to disneyworld....on day 2 you give the ticket to the person you paired up with to save money. This breaks us up into smaller groups in disneyworld. This not only saves some of us money, but it also cuts down on having to keep track of a huge group.
And for everyone on the 3rd day, and for those that don't want to go to disneyworld....we can have an all day beach party. We will be in Florida...there are beaches. Maybe we can rent or buy some of those little tent things.
Also, for those that have kids that are not disneyland age appropriate....Im sure we could get some volonteer babysitters going. Maybe some of you will get mommy's day out at disneyworld.
mckayleesmom replied: Maybe its a bad idea...I don't know...My shower was kind of hot when I thought this through....
mckayleesmom replied: Also..those are prices I got off one site...they are just an example...Im not sure how accurate the price would be....We would have to call.
mummy2girls replied: For me it isnt the tickets ot get in just the loss of pay if i took a week off... and the plane ticket to get there... But for those that can afford this trip that sounds like a good idea to save money!
Just think of me when you are all in disney world and on the beach!
Insanemomof3 replied: That is my problem too. The plane ticket and all that. Not so much the time off work, because lets face it, my job is NOT that important, but the getting there is the hard part for me. The tickets would be fairly easy for me to get for Disneyworld...I "think". Maybe next years tax refund time???? ooo There is an idea.
mummy2girls replied: because i will have my dayhome so i can take time off whenever i want unless i can give them back up dayhomes while im away... its just that they wont have to pay me so that is quite a bit taken off my checks.. maby if i wink my eye to my dad he will give in to his little girl and fly me there as a treat... and then aron can pay for my lost pay..HAHAHAHAHA thats a good one...LOL
luvmykids replied: You guys are still talking about 2007, right? Can you buy tickets at the prices now and use them then? Something else to check into, they may expire before then.
mummy2girls replied: hmmmm not sure! Defentily somethign to look into.
C&K*s Mommie replied: I am gung-ho for a beach party! My father is excited about taking Christian to DW for the first time when she is 5 (in '07), so DW would be out for us. Not to be a party-pooper, I am in on the beach thing. We have never been to the S. Fl beaches, I would love to go.
luvmykids replied: DW is inland, right? How far to the beaches?
A&A'smommy replied: a beach party thing would be better for us and I REALLY want to meet up with everyone
Kaitlin'smom replied: Depending on the size we might be able to get group rates. I woul dhave to check into it, same with a hotel might be able to get one cheeper if we all or most stayed at the same place.
If I rememebr the tickets dont expire.
kit_kats_mom replied: the disney resorts are the way to go. They are nice, provide transportation to all of the disney parks and are basically their own little citys. The least expensive one is the All Stars Resort and they have music and sports themed rooms and pools for the kids.
For those who are thinking that the flights will be the issue, go apply for a credit card with airline points. We have an AMEX and over the years we've earned 7 or 8 flights for free. It's nice to get free tickets for buying grocerys, gas etc that youd buy anyway.
I think that the beach is a ways a way. Amy would be able to confirm that though. Yes, Orlando is smack dab in the middle of FL.
amynicole21 replied: The closest beach is probably a good 2 hours away... not very close.
And you have to provide ID with the park hopper passes... can't share.
Kaitlin'smom replied: Well I think the biggest thing is we need coordinators for this. I am thinking at least 2 people to head it up.
any nominations or volentiers?
luvbug00 replied: perfect!! Mya will be 7 then I promised her we'd go when she was 7. ( i don't do rides and I hope to have a littler one then too) so I can hold kids while moms ride rides. OSunds awsome!!! now to convince Brad....
coasterqueen replied: I'm sure it will be a blast!
We won't be going, not only because of airfare for 4 of us, but because when we do go we want both girls to be old enough to enjoy it because we'll only be going once in our lifetime, it's all we'll be able to afford.
jcc64 replied: Not to burst anyone's bubble, but there are no beaches anywhere near Disney. I agree with Cary that the Disney resorts, while not always the best value, are worth it for the convenience of being able to park your car and rely on Disney transportation the entire time. Believe me, this is very nice if you want to leave one of the parks and go back to your room for a much needed nap/swim/break. Disney, as fun as it is, is a colossal hassle sometimes when you have little kids. The crowds are overwhelming (at least to me), and you spend a great deal of time just waiting on lines (not fun with impatient toddlers). I can't imagine trying to co-ordinate this with groups of people. If the idea is to meet up and hang out with other PC families, and really get something out of it, I would think a beach or a park would be a much better choice. Just my 2 cents, fwiw.
luvmykids replied: We are most likely going to be in Orlando in September of 2007, DH has a golf tournament every year that alternates between there and Palm Springs, CA. So if it's in September I'd love to meet everyone but otherwise will have to pass.
Kaitlin'smom replied: these are also some concerns I have. Thats why I was thinking we should try someplace a little less hectic. At least for the first go around.
3_call_me_mama replied: Ditto the beaches and sharing passes. They code your finger biometrics (so they told us) and and ask for With parkhopper. Also the tickets do expire I believe 14 days after first use) unless you purchase teh no expire option. (which can get quite pricey) We're in definately as we would be goin gthat year anyways. (We go every other year, went 2005, so 2007 is next) I'll help with planning but cannot coordinate as i am not thst organized
booey2 replied: I don't think we will be in either, my mom wants to do a family holiday over the christmas break with my sisters family and ours. She wants to rent a condo down in Florida and have everyone under one roof, that is like 12 people. So I don't think we will make the pc Disney get together.
EvesMom replied: I won't be able to do Disney either. Just can't afford the flight and what not. Plus Evelynn won't be old enough to enjoy it.
ions_momma replied: I am hoping that we will be able to go, but I doubt we will. The whole money thing would be an issue, and we have been talking about going to Keywest with all of DH's family, and we just couldnt afford to go to Florida twice in one year. I hope all of you that do get to go have a great time though!
CantWait replied: Shelley, if you're going through CD dayhomes, you're entitled to paid vacation time, it's the same if you're parents want to pull their kids out of the dayhome for vacation, they still have to pay you at least half of your pay to hold your spot for a period of no longer then 2 months. Good Luck.
