I have a question related to diet
Danalana wrote: I have been reading 'What to Expect When You're Expecting"...it talks a good deal about what you shouldn't eat. Do yall follow a pregnancy diet or do you just kinda eat what you want, in moderation?
Mommy2Isabella replied: Well, I hate eating period, pregnant or not.
But when I am pregnant, I eat what I crave, in moderation ... < I may be a bad example!
PrairieMom replied: I tried to follow it, but Mainly just ate what I wanted. I was an a sodium restriction with both my pregnancies, so that cuts out a lot of the fast food stuff and forces you to eat better. To bad I STILL gained a ton of weight. I was NOT one of those cute pregnant people.
moped replied: I eat lots and whatever I want
lovemy2 replied: I ate alot but in moderation the things that really weren't that healthy - like ice cream sundaes - they are very healthy - especially when you put the choc syrup on them, nuts and whip cream - oh and peanut butter - lots of protein in peanut butter so that was important - good fats in peanuts and of course the dairy in ice cream - I recommend them everynite - they are a great way to end a day with a well rounded snack
I also ate tons and tons of fruit with both pregs....oh yeah - fruit on ice cream - very good too......
Danalana replied: I don't think I will be a cure pregnant person, either. *shrug* If I were small starting out, then maybe. But nope...not small
lisar replied: I ate what I wanted when I wanted. If I was hungry then I was gona eat.
Mommy2BAK replied: Same here. With the first I was a little more cautious but this time I've just in the last month actually having an appetite, so therefore I eat whatever.
tammyhopkins replied: I used pregnancy as a ticket to eat whatever you want cause you couldn't see how much you gained.
But it wasn't a good idea LOL
Danalana replied: My mother was sick for the last 5 months with me...I hope that doesn't happen I'm a big girl and I need lots of food to keep me functioning
ZandersMama replied: I ate what I wanted when I wanted it. Its the only time in your life you really have an excuse to "eat for two" so i did it.
indywndy_04 replied: Ditto - I eat what I want, when I want but I do try not to load up on crappy foods. I try and eat somewhat healthy, I just can not stand meat since I have been pregnant. Other then that, I try to keep it balanced. But, I have to have 4 oreos and milk at night.
Calimama replied: I wasn't in to food much during my pregnancy. I cut out the caffeine and made sure that when I did eat, it wasn't junk food. I ate a lot of fresh fruits and veggies and subs from Subway.
DillsMommy replied: I pretty much eat what I want except for caffine I try to limit myself to a can/glass of soda a day. And I'm trying to stay away from fast food, i ate way too much of that the first time. Now's the time to eat whenever you want and no one can say a thing! Just be careful, the more unessesary weight you gain, the harder it is to lose after! Atleast for me it was!
CantWait replied: I didn't follow any specific diet, although I did limit caffiene, that was pretty much it though.
My3LilMonkeys replied: I limited caffeine and the bad fishes (though I couldn't tell you what they are). The hardest for me was eating all meat well done - I'm a medium rare kind of gal and it drove me crazy!!!
Danalana replied: I love medium rare too!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I read the chapter on the pregnancy diet, but I didn't even try it because it looked like too much work and I didn't want to stress out over what I was eating. I tried to just eat heathy food and cut down on the junk and caffeine ~ I wasn't very good at it though.
gr33n3y3z replied: I ate all seafoods and rare meats but mind you we had steak 2 times a month and eye roasts 1 time a month maybe 2 the rest was pork, turkey and nasty chicken We never ate cheap beef
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: WHAT?? Who hates to eat? I looooooooooove food too much.
I pretty much just stuck to my regular diet when PG, except upped my calories to eat a little more than usual. I didn't avoid everything they say to avoid like lunchmeats and hotdogs. But I held back from sushi (which I love) and blue cheese (which I also LOVE!). I tried to get in a lot of calcium rich foods like leafy greens, yogurts for snacks, cheese sticks. Add sprinkled cheese on salads and soups (mostly feta and parmesan and sometimes goats cheese). I held back from greasy foods because I had bad heartburn towards the end and I just felt like they were empty calories. But gosh, I did get my load of fries during my PGs. Mmmmm. Relax and eat what you want is my philosophy, but just make smart choices. Dessert is fine in moderation I think. I probably had dessert every night, but not every meal, kwim!
