I hate having

Boys r us wrote: to come up with something for father's day!

Mmmm I don't mean that as bad as it sounds..I LOVE the idea of getting Rick a gift..but I have NO IDEA what to get for him! NONE!

We pretty much get the things we need and most of the things(within reason) that we want for ourselves, so it doesn't seem special to buy him anything. So I decided I'm going to go out after work and get a rectangular picture frame that holds two pics in it and has a space in the middle. I'm going to put a picture of each of the boys in it and put a Quote in the middle between the pictures on the matting that says"A truely rich man is one whose children run to his arms when his hands are empty"

But I'm not completely happy with that saying...does anyone have any other good quotes?

Boys r us replied: Here are a cople of other quotes that I like:

"when you teach your son, you teach your son's son"

"Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see"

Which one should I use?

coasterqueen replied: OMG I like that quote! I am not clever what-so-ever so I'm no help. blush.gif

DH and I are extremely practical and get each other things we need, lol. So no sentimental things here. EXCEPT Dh did get me a necklace for Mother's Day, but he isn't very original with jewelry, I think anyone can do that, rofl.

I got him a cordless drill a few weeks ago because he needed it to work on the basement so that's his present from me. I got him a walkman radio and a shirt that says "My Daddy's #1" from Kylie. He'll love the radio because every time I make him go into town to run errands it's always when the baseball game is on and he can't listen to it in the car because Kylie has her dvd's on. So this is something he can use during that time as well as when we are shopping. It's not like he listens to me anyways, so it won't disrupt that. ROFL.

amynicole21 replied: This is - by far - my favorite Father's Day gift:

First, get a pic of your kids wearing Daddy's Shoes and put it in a frame next to this poem:

Walk a Little Slower

Walk a little slower Daddy,
Said a little child so small.
I'm following in your footsteps,
And I do not want to fall.

Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they're hard to see.
So, walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.

Someday when I am all grown up,
You're what I want to be.
Then I will have a little child,
Who'll want to follow me.

And, I would want to lead just right,
And, I'd know that I was true.
So, walk a little slower Daddy.
For I must follow you.

jem0622 replied: Here's Another. For DH's first Father's Day I printed this in kindergarten-type font and then used my cropping scissors to make a nice border. I glued that to the middle of really strong poster board. Then I did Nathan's handprints and footprints, and framed the poster board with a Father's Day themed cropping package and framed it.

I rarely see my husband cry, but this made him bawl. It stayed in his office on his wall until he became a SAHD.

Little Eyes Upon You

There are little eyes upon you
and they're watching night and day.
There are little ears that quickly
take in every word you say.
There are little hands all eager
to do anything you do;
And a little boy who's dreaming
of the day he'll be like you.
You're the little fellow's idol,
youre the wisest of the wise.
In his little mind about you
no suspicions ever rise.
He believes in you devoutly,
holds all you say and do;
He will say and do, in your way
when he's grown up just like you.
There's a wide-eyed little fellow
who believes you're always right;
and his eyes are always opened,
and he watches day and night.
You are setting an example
every day in all you do;
For the little boy who's waiting
to grow up to be like you.

You've got lots of good ideas! We did a garden stone last year and it was a hit. We've done hand casts also. This year we went for an ice cream maker b/c it's all DH could talk about. Next year I'll probably scrape up money to get him out for golf or something.
