I had to hold back the tears... - after seeing a movie last night
C&K*s Mommie wrote: Last night my mother and I went to see "Madea's Family Reunion" by Tyler Perry, we ran into my godmother which was also great too. Having only seen one of his other movies, and see a teeny portion of the play version of this movie, I was not expecting to be moved the way I was.
It was a bittersweet movie. The three main stories involved sadness & hurt, new love & joy, & soooo much laughter! Time after time, I held back on letting the tears fall for whatever reason, a few times I teared up because I was laughing so hard, but at others it was different. The one time I could not hold back was when a character in the movie, called her mother one of the worst things you can call a woman. And I was shocked! I could and never would call my mother that, or anything like it, and I think the shock brought on the tears. The character's mother allowed despicable things to happen to her daughter when she was a child, and all the rage and anger from that came forth with her saying that to her. I love how he (Tyler Perry) intertwines the stories, even though they are separate, he brings them together for a time, then separates them again to keep the storylines clear.
Anyhow, great movie! It ended very well, with love still superceding all.
Anyone else see this movie?
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I didn't see it, but I've been wanting to. I heard it was so awesome. I'm glad you gave us a review. I'll have to rent it when it comes out.
Kated replied: I havent seen it but sounds good.
You know what made me cry?
The Notebook! OMG I was balling with that one.
luvmykids replied: Sounds good, my kind of movie! Is it the same guy who did "Diary of a Mad Black Woman"?
C&K*s Mommie replied: It is a good thing I watched that alone, because I was bawling too at the tender points.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Yep! I could not think of that title earlier when I posted, but yep he did that movie. Thanks Monica for remembering it for me.
mckayleesmom replied: That is funny that you mention this...I just got my netflix movie and its Diary of a Mad Black Woman.
luvmykids replied: I really like him, I saw him on Oprah and thought he was really great. I want to see that movie even more now!
My2Beauties replied: I heard all of his movies are really good with Madea in them. I wanna see it now.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Madea is hilarious! There are other characters he plays, they are hilarious too, but Madea is a stand out. I never knew people like that, but from what I have heard there are women (and men- from the other characters he plays) like that, esp in the South. But none that I can think of. Still hilarious though, even if it was not personal.
C&K*s Mommie replied: you are gonna love it! ((IMO)) Tell me what you thought of it, after you see it.
mckayleesmom replied: I will try to watch it tonight.
ions_momma replied: I havent seen it either, but I have really been wanting too. And after hearing what you thought about it, I want to see it even more! Maybe DH will stay at home with Ion this weekend and I will get a chance to go see it with some girlfriends.
