I had a failed induction - long story :( - spent the whole weekend in the hospital!

AshleyRose wrote: Well it started when my blood pressure was increasing and then they put me on BP meds mid-last week. And for being on meds my blood pressure still wasn't great. Then I started going to this jerk high-risk OB right after and became fed up. Brad and I were under an immense amount of stress worrying about my health and to top it all off I have to start going to a different doctor at a different practice who treats me like I am just a name under a date and time. I go to my old doctor and tell him I want an induction. I was almost 39 weeks at that point. The high risk OB and my old doctor told me not to do it because my cervix was totally not ready. But I had a good feeling about the whole thing and so did my DH. The decision was totally up to us and they said they understood and would support either path we chose. So I said to do it. DH agreed. We got the call (very unexpected) on sat afternoon. We weren't expecting to get in that early because apparently there was 7 inductions ahead of us. But we got called in not even 24 hours after saying how fed up we were.

We frantically packed our bags and looked like two of the biggest twits ever. But we managed to get there in one piece. Well the doctor had a c-section to perform. So we got there at 3 and I didn't get a cervidil (insert that ripens your cervix) until 8 at night! I finally got it and had to wait 12 hours to be examined again. I woke up at 5 am with contractions and as soon as I stood up to use the bathroom they were every 2 min apart and becoming more and more painful as time went on. At 6 they put me on the NST monitor and noticed that I was contracting every minute for 30 seconds or something. they pulled the cervadil at 7:30 because it was making me contract so much. So I had to stay on the monitors for the whole day until my contractions subsided because my cervix had ONLY softened after like 4 hours of contractions. They wanted to insert another cervadil but didn't want me to be contracting like that. So at 1:30 the contractions had tapered off but didn't completely disapear. They were just farther apart. They put another cervadil in and I waited. Contractions started up again and were 2-2 1/2 min apart but pretty painful. I was exhausted by midnight and couldn't get rest because of the pain. So the whole crew came in at 1 am and checked me. 1/2 cm dialated and soft. Thats it!!!!! Can you believe that? All those contractions and cervadil for a half a cm!!!!?? NO way!!! So they tried to put a foley catheter in and it KILLED after all the exams I had that day and the medicine which makes you sensitive. I was using laughing gas and had a shot of morphine (to help me finally get some sleep) and it still killed me. My poor husband was saying "shes not a happy camper right now rolling_smile.gif ". Basically they couldn't get the catheter in and did the prostaglandin gell and the next morning nothing changed. So they sent my butt home the next morning with no baby. The bed rest that I was on made my BP go down and without the meds (they took me off them) and my blood work was getting better the longer I was there. So they saw no reason to give me a c-section. I do see this experience as a good one but I am also disapointted in some ways. Oh well.

Pray that I go into labor soon, please!!!

I cut this short because hubby needs to take his lap top to work and mine is broken sad.gif . Post more later.

kimberley replied: yikes! sounds miserable, but typical of an induction. sorry you had to go through that. any reason they didn't break your water? sending lots of ~~~come out baby~~~ vibes your way! grouphug.gif

ammommy replied: Oh, I'm sorry. That sounds miserable. I had a similar experience with my induction with #1, but my ob was nice and broke my water. Then I threatened my unborn child if he refused to cooperate rolling_smile.gif He halfway listened and I ended up with a csection after about an hour of pushing. Good luck, and I hope you go into labor SOON!

Boys r us replied: OHHH hun! I'm so sorry that you had to go through ALL OF THAT and STILL be sent home empty handed!!!

It sounds though like a good indication that you're taking good care of Paris in there..since she doesn't want to come out!

akbutterfly83 replied: Wow.... i kinda know how that is..... but without the induction..... I'm sorry you had to go through all that....

~~~~~~~~~~labor vibes~~~~~~~~~~~
Kaitlin'smom replied: oh how frustrating, sorry it did not go well. I hope you go into labor soon
mom21kid2dogs replied: (((Big Hugs)))
I had a friend who had to endure all that~it's definately torture!! Hope you can get some good rest & relation before this baby decides to make the appearence!
chloe&tysmommy replied: Oh No! That is terrible sad.gif sorry you had to suffer like that! I hope you go into labor soon grouphug.gif
mummy2girls replied: Oh god thats what happened with jordan. but because my blood pressure was still going high they didnt discharge me i stayed in the hospital. after that 12 hour wait like you had they checked me and it was still the same. so i went for a wlk and while in the bathroom my water broke...but if it didnt then my OB would of broke them for me. So im surprised they didnt for you... Im hoping you have your little paris in your arms soon:)
coasterqueen replied: Least they sent you home and didn't force a c/s on ya wink.gif. It sounds like Paris is not ready yet..give her time she will be here before you know it wink.gif. I promise. I have to tell myself that all the time and this time around my docs are trying to get me to go with an earlier induction/c-s but I'm gonna wait til this one is ready wink.gif.
A&A'smommy replied: awwww hun I'm glad they didn't give you a c/s it will probably be much better when you go into labor on your own. (((HUGS)))) and LOTS of GO INTO LABOR and EL vibes!!
amynicole21 replied: Ugh! What a nightmare. I hope you go into labor naturally soon!
AshleyRose replied: They didn't break my water because I wasn't dialated enough. I was only 1/2 cm and they couldn't even get the foley catheter in there to help out. It was horrible. Thanks for the labor vibes and prayers. I have learned to just wait it out and relax when I can. I don't even care if she is late... I just want to not have to go through that again, lol. We had a practice run and now we both know what to expect. I also know that I will be ALL OVER that epidural when the real deal comes! I used to swear up and down that I wouldn't ever get one. laugh.gif yea right. tongue.gif
GavinsMommy replied: i wish i would have gone into labor on my own. now i always think...when would his bday REALLY have been. please don't make that mistake if you can help it. i did LOVE my induction experience though and i don't regret it...just wish i knew what would have REALLY happened. it was a great thing though. wub.gif
GavinsMommy replied: i was only 1 cm when the broke mine....they should have...
A&A'smommy replied:
they way it sounds if they had she probably would have had to have a c/s that is what happened to me only when i went in I was nearly 2cm.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: grouphug.gif I'm sorry you had to go through all of that! I hope baby Paris doesn't keep you waiting for too much longer! grouphug.gif
