TANNER'S MOM wrote: But believe me that doesn't pay the bills..lol I said I am unemployed so that means I am not to good to do anything!!
I do have one so so prospect and I took some skill assessments today and I did a lot better than I expected..and that's how I got one over qualified...lol
Man I hate looking for a job! Why can't I win the lotto tomorrow~~
amymom replied: Don't you hate that. But I am glad you have some prospects. Have you thought about going to a temp agency. They are always looking for good people and with your skills they would be happy to have you.
Also, I have used temp agencies to learn about what is out there. Kelly Services is a good one in my opinion. Good Luck!!
lisar replied: Good luck girl. I would hate to hear that I was over qualified. It would suck. Good luck..
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Mel I hope you find something soon. It's never easy looking for a job. I didn't have any luck whatsoever in finding a job when Scotty was out of work. And some of them just aren't in any hurry. Scotty is just now getting a bunch of calls from when he posted his resume on monster.
luvmykids replied: Job hunting sucks! I hope you find something soon
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Oh honey-I am sorry! Did you tell them you have been working for someone who you were more than overqualified to work for and you have been doing that for 4 years!?! You did not hold it against him...you won't hold it against them either! They can ease the burden of being too smart for them by paying you to put up with it! You will find something! I know you will and if not we will start something when your last boss and his ugliness runs all the customers, trucks, remaining employees off!!!
CantWait replied: Sorry Mel. Hope you find something soon.
I agree, maybe try a temp agency. They're always looking for qualified people. Although I'm not one to follow my own advice, I'm still looking also.
TANNER'S MOM replied: Thanks everyone... I haven't lost all hope yet..
And yes Abbie I should tell them I am used to working with idiots...lol
sparkys2boys replied: Good luck with the search. I am sure that someone will relize that you would be an asset to them very soon.
coasterqueen replied: Mel. It's so hard out there isn't it? My mom found the "you are over qualified" thing when she was looking for a job earlier in the year. It's so frustrating.
Hope you find that great job soon.
jem0622 replied: What about going to a temp agency? Have any around? A lot of company's actually hire that way (you come on temp for a few months before you go permanent). At least it is work! Just make sure you get benefits.
stella6979 replied: I've never understood how you can be overqualified for something. You would think those would be the people to hire.
jem0622 replied:
I think it is more of an ethics thing. They know what her pay scale is and if they cannot meet it then they don't think it is right to extend an offer. I have to respect the companies who state that because they don't want to underpay her.
Kaitlin'smom replied: stay positive
maybe I sould have that on my resume also, "I work well with idots"
TheOaf66 replied: because Mel, I am going to win it yeah right in my
MommyToAshley replied:
I am sorry Mel... I don't get the "you are overqualified" thing either. Unless they think you are afraid that you would just be taking the job until something better comes along?
Hang in there... I think you have the right attitude by not getting discouraged. The founder of McDonalds once said that it takes 10 "no's" to get a "yes"... as he had ten businesses fail before he franchised McDonald's... and look how things turned out for him!
