I got a new car today.
MoonMama wrote: Well the insurance company came and looked at my car today and it is totaled. Anyway long story short since we are waiting on them to get everything settled and worked out with everything. DH gave me the go ahead to go out with my older brother today and get a new car. I got an SUV a Nissan Xterra. I absolutely LOVE it!!!! So many neat little extras. It has now miles and was kept in perfect condition. Anyway here is a picture, not the best because I took it with my phone at dark. I'll take a better one this weekend.
HuskerMom replied: Pretty sharp looking car! I hope everything is settled soon.
Cece00 replied: Congrats!
Calimama replied: Exciting! VERY cute! What kind of car did you have before? I love car shopping. Although DH hates it when I go. I have a tendency to try to sign before I've looked at the price, features.. etc.
I tell ya.. It was a one time thing and I'm branded for life..
MoonMama replied: Before I had a 2005 Subaru WRX. I LOVED that car! DH has one too (but an 06), we love our "Subi's", we're lame I know. I opted for this rather then a more sporty one because how great it will be with Braedin, the room, how great it will be in the snow and its actually very sporty and smooth. Plus DH has been bugging about how much he REALLY wanted Brae and I in an SUV with 4 wheel drive. He has a big Toyota Tundra (sp) and when the snow is bad he makes me drive that and I HATE it! Its just too big.
ETA: Oh I am just as bad as you, and usually DH doesn't let me go either until he has picked it out.
luvmykids replied: I have it good in that department....I pick it out and DH signs. Actually, he's worse than me, he missed a flight home once and just bought a new car to drive home
Congrats, Ally! I love it!

luvmykids replied: The car lot was by the airport, he was bored waiting to hear if they could get him on another flight that day so he went and looked around. It was too good a deal for him to pass up
MoonMama replied: I can SOOO see Alec doing the same.
3xsthefun replied: Nice car!
Mommy2BAK replied: cool!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Saweeeeeet!!!!
I think you will reallly like it. I can't wait to see more pics of it.
grandma replied: Too bad you couldn 't buy an American made car, help us folks here keep our jobs
Danalana replied: Wooooohoooo! Congratulations!
grapfruit replied: Actually most of the "American cars" aren't built IN America. For instance Honda builds over 80% of their cars AND components right here in Ohio. In fact most of the factories around my area build exclusively for Honda. Toyota is another one that builds almost exclusively in the US. Conversely our new GMC Denali we just purchased is built in Mexico and Canada (it says on the door)..... Just something to think about...
luvmykids replied: DH's theory is if you're buying new, buy made in the USA, but if you're buying pre-owned it's not such a big deal, b/c that foreign car already made it's dent in the US manufacturers pocket, it won't hurt them now.
grandma replied: Most American cars are built here. If you buy foreign cars the bulk of the money goes back to that country. If you buy American most of that money stays here. If you buy American you are supporting American employement, you are saving your friends and families jobs. Look at MI, foreclousures are at an all time high. People are moving out of state so fast...you can't get a U-haul. In my husband's plant alone 30,000 people lost thier jobs. So yeah, buying American cars affects us all. JMO...
luvmykids replied: ITA with you, which is when we buy new, we buy American. I'm just saying in this case, when it's a used car, it doesn't make a difference at this point, only at the time it was purchased new.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Congrats Ally! It's beautiful and looks safe.
grandma replied: I understand what your saying, you didn't make the initital purchase, the damage is already done. I'd never buy a used foreign car either, but that's just me (well and other of thousands union workers).
luvmykids replied: I hadn't thought of the union factor, I can see where it's a show of loyalty
MoonMama replied: Ok I wasn't trying to cause a debate here or come off as "un-American" or like I'm trying to put anyone out of a job! I guess I never should have posted. Sorry I did.
Calimama replied: Ally! Stop feeling bad sweetie! You did NOTHING wrong by posting. If it makes you feel better I have a couple foreign cars sitting in my driveway.
ETA: Man that didn't make sense. Fixed now!
grandma replied: I didn't mean to hurt your feelings, I was just giving my feelings. It's your thread...sorry. And how could you be 'un-American' look at your avatar........
luvmykids replied: I'm sorry, I didn't realize I sounded argumentative. Nobody thinks of you as un-American and I'm sorry I went OT.
lisar replied: Those are nice my sil has one same color and all. She loves hers.
MoonMama replied: No need to be sorry Monica. I still love ya girl. Sorry if I came off so defensive. You are both fully entitled to your opinions. I just felt a little attacked. Sorry to be so about it.
And thanks a bunch Denise!
