I feel silly - but I need pt's......

I just changed his water after reading that they prefer warm water and they will be lazy and lathergic in cold (which fishy was), so when I put the warm water in he started acting all funny and I think he's dying. He's in so much distress, and he goes to the top and is totally breathing in air (which they can do, but he stays there). Now he's at the bottom on the tank huffing and puffing
Anthony is napping right now, I'd hate for him to wake up and see that fishy is dead.
mckayleesmom replied: Run to Walmart and get another one just in case.....then swap him out if fishy dies...
Boo&BugsMom replied: How old is he? I always used luke warm water with ours and he was always very active and fine, until he got old and we had to give him the toilet burial. Could it have been too warm? It's not too late to change the water or add some colder water to it if you've just recently changed it.
gr33n3y3z replied: give it time when I do a full tank change with my fish they do the samething Fishy is just in shock and should come around just let it be
C&K*s Mommie replied: I was thinking it is shock as well. Hoping for the best.
CantWait replied: Yes I put in warmer then usual water then usual after reading that friggen article. If he survives, which he's looking better now, then it's only cold water for him (ack I thought it was just to cold, it was cold for me). I did add colder water to it though.
Thank you Lisa, I'm glad it's not only mine.
MoonMama replied: PTs
CantWait replied: Anthony just noticed fishy isn't doing to well.
holley79 replied: Oh hope he pulls through. Are you on city water and do you think maybe they had a chemical change? We almost killed everything in our tank one time because our water company had too much clorine in their water.
msoulz replied: Do try to "revive" him before giving him a burial at sea. Perhaps some cooler water will help. I used a thermometer in my water until I got the idea of how warm 75 degress feels, and it really doesn't feel very warm to me but it works for the fish.
I just flushed two dwarf puffer fishes yesterday who seemed very dead in my tank (they were laying at the bottom and did not move as I netted them) but started swimming in the toilet!! I then had to convince my son that they really were dead and flush them - couldn't get them out of there and put them back in the tank.
I like the idea of running to Wal Mart too!!
ashtonsmama replied: How sad! I'm so sorry! KUP-and the fishie is in my thoughts!
youngmomofone replied: aww hope fishy is doing ok now
My3LilMonkeys replied: How is fishy??
CantWait replied: Fishy seems to be doing well I think he's just lazy naturally, and unfit.
Holley we're on city water, but I always put water conditioner in his tank before he goes back in.....
MoonMama replied: So glad to hear fishy is doing better.
cameragirl21 replied: glad to hear fishy is doing better. What color Beta do you have?
CantWait replied: Anthony's Beta is whie with some colour on his fins, Robbie's Beta (Maple) is red.
cameragirl21 replied: cool, I love the brightly colored Betas. Red is my fave color in genral but I think the light teal/baby blue blend colored Betas are my faves. I know they're boys and all but you can make a really pretty setup for a Beta complete with pretty rocks and plants. If you want to do that I can explain to you how to do it, I love making crafts like that, especially crafts that involve live plants.
