I am the only one who is getting anxious ...

MommyToAshley wrote: and can't wait to turn the car seat around so it faces forward??!! It will be so nice when I can just peek around and see what she is doing and I think she will enjoy car rides better.

By the way, is the middle seat still the safest when they face forward too?

catou_98 replied: Actually I'm not!, camille is the kind of baby that as soon as she sees us she whine or cries until we pick her up! Oh, I just imagine what it will be like in the car when she's forward facing and I'm NOT looking forward to that! ohmy.gif ...I plan on leaving her rear facing for as long as possible! biggrin.gif

supermom replied: Yes, the middle back seat is still the safest (because of side-impact crashes), even when they get even bigger and graduate to a booster or regular seatbelt.

It was great when we could turn ours around, because they really did enjoy the ride a lot more and we could see them without mirror magic!

MomofTay&Sam replied: I am looking forward to this to! I am so cold in the front seat trying to get the ac to the back seat with him turned around. Sammy really enjoys the view though, when he gets turned around he will just see a seat. sad.gif

MomofTay&Sam replied: I forgot to ask/say. I think Sammy could be turned around now right? He is 30 inches and 24lbs. I know it's a whole 12 month thing but my car seat says I can turn him around. I think it's a spine/neck support also and how they develop. I wont turn him until 12 months but just wondering.

Kirstenmumof3 replied: wub.gif I think we have a long way to go with Claudia, she is still only about 16 1/2 lbs. I too can't wait to look in the backseat and see her smiling back at me! From everything I've heard, the middle is the safest place for them! How much does Ashley weigh? wub.gif

MommyToAshley replied:
She is well over 20 lbs, but I don't know her exact weight. I'll find out at her 12 month check-up. She should meet both requirements -- the 1 year and over 20 lbs! YEAH! horray.gif

MommyToAshley replied:
I am pretty sure it is 20lbs AND (not or) 12 months.

ediep replied: yup...20 lbs and 1 year. Thats what Jason ped said last week. I am really looking forward to have him front facing. I think it will be so much easier to get him in and out of the seat....especially when he is sleeping

coasterqueen replied: I would really like to keep Kylie rear-facing as long as possible, but DH is counting down the days. biggrin.gif She hates being in the car seat and probably would be happier forward facing. So we will do it as soon as she is one!

jcc64 replied: Don't mean to burst everyone's bubble about the 20lb, 12 month rule, but the carseat board on ivillage STRONGLY advocates leaving babies rear facing as long as possible, far beyond the 1 yr. mark. This was new info to me, having followed conventional wisdom with my older boys, but the AAP concurs.

amynicole21 replied: Sadly, I don't think my little peanut will be 20lbs at a year. We will probably leave her rear facing for several more months. I am excited to do it, though! thumb.gif

maliksmommy replied: When does it become unsafe for them to be rear-facing???

amynicole21 replied:
Each carseat will have their own standards. I think mine is something like 32lbs and 36".... I might be making that up, though wink.gif
