I am so freaking out! - Maybe just paranoid.......
EvesMom wrote: but please say a little prayer for us. Here's the story, sorry it mat be a little long. Right after Christmas I found a leak in my basement in the ceiling. Aroung the spot on the ceiling was a black mold growing. I knew what it was, and I had my father (he's an environmental engineer) come over and do some samples. The results came back positine for massive amounts of stachybotrys. For those who don't know what it is, http://www.idph.state.il.us/envhealth/fact...tachybotrys.htm
We had to relocate while everthing was being cleaned up. It should have only taken a week or two, but it took a month. Last night we found another leak. There isn't any visible mold, but I am paranoid. Evelynn and I have been feeling under the weather, cough, congestion, sneezing. I'm really afaid that the mold is back. I called the landlord, they didn't answer, and haven't returned my call. An hour ago, I put Evelynn down for a nap, and I noticed a few little dried spots of blood on her sheet. . I don't know how long it's been there, I haven't noticed it until now. But I am totally freaking out! So please say a little prayer for us Thank you.
mckayleesmom replied: Yikes...that is scary....I will keep you guys in my prayers...I hope its nothing.
amynicole21 replied: Oh man! I don't think the blood is related... But the coughing and other symptoms may be. I hope everything is ok. Go spray some lysol on the spot just to make sure nothing new developes while you are getting it checked.
luvmykids replied: Yuck! Hope everything is ok.
EvesMom replied: exposure to Stachybotrys might be related to pulmonary hemorrhage, also known as bleeding lungs, in infants , This scares me. Exposure can cause symptons that of a cold or flu, headaches, nosebleeds, fatigue, skin irritation, burning sensation of the lungs, and so on. This is why the blood on her sheet freaks me out.
b&bsmom replied: P&PT's are with you. I hope it is nothing. It must be so scary. Hang in there!
1lilpeanut2love replied: Prayers and PT's coming your way!
Mom2BNTN replied: I'm sure everything will be just fine! I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us updated, ok?
gr33n3y3z replied: keep an eye on it and the landlord should call you if not keep calling him. If you dont pay the rent then you will hear from him lol but of course put aside the money so you will have it
punkeemunkee'smom replied: I would be concerned too! Just keep calling your landlord-mold was a huge problem down here a few years ago. Insurance companies paid out millions in claims-It always scares me now too. I hope it not in your home again!
BAC'sMom replied: Hope everything turns out ok
kimberley replied: p&pt your way. i hope its nothing.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: wow that's scary. Can you bring her in to the ped to find out if she's been exposed? I hope it's ok!
EvesMom replied: I just got back from the ped., and he says she just has a cold, her lungs soung clear. There is no definative testing that can be done for mold exposure. It's kind of a wait a see thing. In I still haven't heard anything from the landlord I called 4 times already. You'd think they would send someone over right away, considering what happened only 3 months ago.
amynicole21 replied: That sounds reassuring, but I'm sure you're still worried. I hope you get a hold of the landlord!
kayla's mama replied: Hope you can get ahold of your landlord. Hopefully you guys can take care of it before it gets really bad again. Glad that Eveyln is ok, besides her little cold. KUP!!!
C&K*s Mommie replied: I hope they call back soon, like Lisa said they would get in touch really quickly with you if they were missing your rent money. Keep on them.
I hope it gets taken care of once and for all this time, too. I am glad to hear that your father could come in to assist in cleaning and the testing. That gives a bit of reassurance when you need somewhere to turn.
P&PT's for your household.
EvesMom replied: Thank you all so much! I think this whole thing has given me an ulcer. I will keep you all posted.
Heather77 replied: How scary .... I'm glad to hear your dd is okay .
That is BS your landord hasn't gotten back to you...that has to be against the law!! There has to be somwhere you can call to find out what your rights as a tenant are? Good luck!!
ashtonsmama replied: That's scary...you're not paranoid at all, I'd be the same way. I hope it all works out...how wierd...keep us updated on it.
(((((HUGS)))))
MyLuvBugs replied: That is horribly scary, and one of my biggest fears. I say call your landlord and tell them that you have notified the Department of health, and they will be sending someone out unless you hear back from them. Maybe that will get there attention. Then take baby girl to the dr, and explain what's going on. Hopefully, the Dr. can run a test or two to make sure she's ok. If anything, move out for a few days and see if you feel better, if you do.....then you know it's something in the house that's making you sick. I'm so sorry you're going through this.
EvesMom replied: ok, they sent someone out to take a look, and they are gonna fix the leak and put a negative air filtration system in tonight, to be on the safe side. Thank god! I don't think I could handle being moved out of this place again for a month.
ashtonsmama replied: Good! I'm glad they're actually taking care of it. Mold and all that is not something you want to mess around with.
ilovemybaby replied: I hope you are all ok. Glad to hear you finally heard from the landlord.
I agree that not paying your rent would be the fastest way to get hold of a landlord HAHA
holley79 replied: Oh no. Can you father come in an do an air quality test to see if there is mold spores in the air? I would check into that. After the hurricanes a lot of people had to have AQ tested.
EvesMom replied: The maintenace guy came and riped the ceiling down in my basement bathroom Thank god, no mold this time So he found the leak and is coming tomorrow to fix it . I still have a huge hole in my ceiling from the last time this happened. When we had the stachy mold in January, we were all symptomatic, even my cats. It seemed like bad allergies. We were tired all the time, and had memory problems. I should have known we didn't have mold this time, I was just paranoid, I still kinda am. But we have 5 HEPA air cleaners going 24/7 to capture any spores that may be hanging around. I don't want to take any chances. Thank you all for your prayers!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: That's pretty scary, but I'm so glad they are taking care of things.
My3LilMonkeys replied: I'm so glad to hear it's nothing serious - how very scary!
