Soooo funny!! emlaugh.gif

CantWait replied: DH nearly killed himself laughing at this...he watched the videos over and over again about 5 times. rolleyes.gif

My2Beauties replied: Yeah I have to admit I was laughing my butt off too!

boyohboyohboy replied: I was actually in shock at first..I mean how easily could that have been a bomb..
but to see how Bush reacted..I mean how many of us would have smiled or laughed in his shoes??
I think that the fast that he took it in stride and also kinda laughed well, it shows he is a strong person..
mind you he isnt my fav. person right now...

MommyToAshley replied: I was a bit surprised at how slowly the secret service reacted, the journalist was actually able to throw a second shoe... what if it was a bomb!?!

Whether or not you like Bush, you have to agree that he was a pretty good sport about the whole thing.

momofone replied: That was crazy funny wacko.gif laugh.gif

PrairieMom replied: I thought the SS was super slow too, although, they check everyone that goes into that room over top to bottom, so they probably felt pretty secure, and were probably not on their toes like they would be in another situation.

They are still holding that guy in custody. I wonder what will happen to him .

jcc64 replied: ITA, I was taken aback by the fact that he had the opportunity to throw a second shoe.

Calimama replied: Wow. I wonder if there is some symbolism with the fact he picked a shoe to throw.

DH said it's very disrespectful (considered an obscenity) to show the bottom of your shoe/foot in some Arab cultures.. so that guy must really really, REALLY hate Bush.

msoulz replied: I was impressed with his ability to dodge the shoes - perhaps he gets more shoes thrown at him than we know!!

But it did seem the secret service took too much time to get to him and the shoe-tossing scoundrel.

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
it's definitely one of the worst insults, one of the most disrespectful things to do.

he probably smiled, because he didn't get the meaning behind it.

In earlier times, people who thought a play sucked would throw their shoes on stage.

it could have easily been a bomb.. but everyone was throughly checked before the conference.

a friend of mine said a chair would have been his first choice... emlaugh.gif

I hope they release him.

A&A'smommy replied: ohmy.gif WHOA strange

HuskerMom replied: Wow Bush has some cat like reflexes to dodge that. tongue.gif

lisar replied: I heard about it, but didnt see it until now. And my thing is, is that the secret service should have been on him quicker. But it is so darn funny

cameragirl21 replied: Well, it should come as no surprise to anyone here that I am no fan of Bush or this war BUT what that guy did was assault and I think he should consider himself lucky that the secret service didn't shoot him.
Ironically, this journalist doesn't realize just how much his actions prove this war's success for his country...what do you suppose would have happened to him had he thrown his shoes at Saddam? This war is stupid and pointless imo but it did save Iraq from a dictator and at least 90% of the killings that have taken place in Iraq are due to Muslim on Muslim violence, specifically Sunni v Shia violence. Iraq is Iran's bitter enemy and shiite Iran hated Sunni Saddam. So when the US got rid of him, Iran started up their Shiite brigades and that is where the killings are coming from, not US soldiers.
I think if we saw Saddam as a threat to us then we should have gotten him out, installed a viable govt and left the country to the Iraqis...it's a waste of our soldiers' lives and time to still be there. But it's not Bush's fault that there are killings all over the place, it's sectarian, muslim on muslim violence.
And pelting shoes at someone's face IS assault and should be punished accordingly. Had he done this to any leader in the Muslim world he'd have been beheaded or killed by firing squad or God knows what else.
Just to give you all an idea, Saddam had a major cleric who p*ssed him off killed by setting his beard on fire all the while hammering nails into his bald head.... dry.gif wacko.gif
So yeah, I do think Iraq's better off even if it was a waste of our time, effort and American soldiers' lives. Bush may be a clown but this journalist's (who btw is supposed to at least appear impartial) anger is seriously misguided and misdirected.

A&A'smommy replied:
I'm glad someone said it!!! And I completly agree!!
