I Need To Cry!

Throughout the day the doctors and nurses were monitering it and even though I had said it had spread to the webs of his fingers, they said it was clearing up and probably a reaction to the solution they used to clean his skin when the Central Line was placed on Thursday. Friday evening I noticed that the rash had spread to his legs, so I called the Haemotology Fellow and she told me to take him into the ER. Once in the ER the doctor looked at his eye and told me it looked like Spencer had an eye infection. But the doctor did take a look at the rash, and yes it was definately there. So Spencer was sent for x-rays of his eye and admitted to the hospital. Mark had to cancel our flights once again and I don't know when we will be going home. They just did a CT scan of his orbits because Infectious Deseases needs the whole picture before they can recommend oral anti-biotics for Spencer. Once he is able to start the oral anit-biotics we will be able to go home. I can't tell you how scared I am. Spencer's platelets dropped from 73 on Friday to 21 on Monday. So had needed to have a platelet transfussion yesterday. They are checking his haemoglobin to determine if he will need to be transfussed before we leave.

Spencer started a round of chemo last Monday, this will run Mon-Fri for 3 weeks twice a day. Which means we will be taking him to the clinic in Thunder Bay before he goes to school and right after. He seems to be tolerating it really well, just a little nausea and that is it. Spencer will have one week off of the Chemo and during that week we come back to Toronto for an evaluation of where things stand and what the next step is! I'll keep you all posted!

Oh and on top of all of this on Tuesday of last week, the Westin Harbour kicked us out! They said they had overbooked the hotel! So for most of Tuesday morning we had no idea where we were going to stay! DH called the Days Inn and got us in a Day early, THANK GOD! It's been so hard for me. Just an emotional rollercoaster!
