Hypospadias.......... - Has anyone ever heard of it?
Mom2Boyz wrote: Like I said in my other post, Caden has one teeny tiny little problem...... His ped diagnosed him with hypospadias. When he first came out, my dr made the comment that it looked like he'd already been circumcised because he has little to no foreskin, but I didn't really think anything of it. Well, when his ped came to see him, she looked and said everything appeard normal, and that she would circ him the next day. When she got ready to do it, she noticed that the hole in the top of his penis where he pees is closed up, and he has a tiny tiny hole just under the head where he pees out of instead. We have to wait until he is 4 months old, and she will refer us to a pediatric uroligist who will then decide when they will fix it. They have to wait until he is at least 6 months old, so he'll have time to grow some more forskin so they can do the surgery. His dr said it will look and function totally normal after the surgery is done, but it still kind of freaks me out that our little guy is going to have to have surgery before he is even a year old She said it occurs in 1 out of 300 baby boys, so I guess it's not all that uncommon. I had just never heard of it.
mammag replied: Poor little fellow! I'm sure he'll get through it all just fine but I know it must be tough for mommy! I had never heard of this either.
ediep replied: yea, I think my nephew had it. he had to wait to be circed untl he was 4-5 months old. He is 5 now and he is fine
Josie83 replied: I've not heard of that either, Amy. I'm sure that everything will be fine after hs operation, but I know how scary it mustbe to think of him in sugrery when he's so little xx
Jamielou replied: Awww poor guy I havent heard of this but it sounds like its pretty common i would try not to worry...
Tamatha replied: I have read about this, and from what I've read, it doesn't sound like Caden's case is very severe. Apparently there are boys who are born with the opening way up by their torso!! But I can't imagine facing surgery before he's a year old! I'm sure everything will come out perfect, though.
stanleygirl replied: I'm sorry to hear that, I hope it goes smoothly from here on in.
Keegansmama replied: Hey my son has something to that effect as well! His hole isn't underneith but his foreskin only formed halfway. They are sending me to urologist sometime this month to see if they can do anything. Oddly enough my cousin's baby had the exact same thing. I had never heard of it either.
luvbug00 replied: I just wanted to give you a
A&A'smommy replied: I have heard of it there is another parent on here who just had/ or going to have the surgery soon to have his fixed He will be okay!!!
redchief replied: Actually Quentin's son Frankie also has hypospadias. It's much more common than people realize because it's one of those things that's seldom spoken of. I think Frankie was scheduled for surgery right around now to have it corrected.
redchief replied: Our son, John had that condition (I forget the technical term for it). The surgery corrective surgery was relatively painless and the stitches only caused minor discomfort for a couple days.
CantWait replied: Just some hugs for you I'm sure he's going to be just fine.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: My brother had one, it was corrected when he was nearly 1. Far as I know, he's fine now, not like I'd ask him about that.
Mom2Boyz replied: Caden goes for his 4 month checkup on the 25th of this month, and we will be scheduled to see the pediatric urologist then. He probably won't be having his surgery at least till after the first of the year.
I was amazed when I learned that there were 2 other babies here who had the same thing
