Hypnosis?

HuskerMom wrote: Has anyone on here ever been hypnotized before? Dh's grandma is thinking about going to a hypnotist to quit smoking. I'm kinda skeptical. I think people can be hypnotized but to use it to quit smoking just seems temporary to me. I'm thinking maybe it'll work for a while but then she'll start again. But I don't know. Anyone used it to quit something before? smile.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: Our insurance guy did it and your right it was a quick fix
he said not my words

Crystalina replied: I think it may work better for some then for others. I personally have never been.

msoulz replied: I am too paranoid. If it does indeed work (Oh, I'm skeptical too) then I would be afraid of what else the person could be telling my subconscious. dry.gif

Calimama replied: I've never been.. sounds interesting!! wink.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: I have not, but I was exhausted one night on Senior Grad night back in high school, and I could have been hypnotized and whatever else if I had half the chance. There was a hypnotist that "hypnotized" some of the graduates, and I whenever he started talking, quickly awakened when he told them to act like different animals and such. sleep.gif

Jackie012007 replied: a man my dad used to work with did the hypnotherapy thing to quit smoking - like Lisa said, it was a quick fix. It worked for a little bit but he still smokes to this day!

Nina J replied: I'e been hypnotized. Not to quit smoking, it was a fundraiser evening and you paid $20 to get in, and if you were game you could go on stage. I was one of 30 or so people who went on stage, and by the end there were only 4 of us left, including me. It really does work, it was fun.

Boo&BugsMom replied: I am skeptical too, but my MIL swears by it. She did it to quit smoking and it worked for her. My dad tried it many years ago and the first thing he did was light up outside the doctor's office. It depends on the person, I think.

TheOaf66 replied: my mom had that done. She had tried everything else gum, patches, etc and she went to hypnosis once and has never picked up a cig since. My FIL also tried this and lit up when he got outside the building. It is all a matter of weather or not you WANT to quit. That is the only way hypnosis will work.

lisar replied: I havent but a friend of mine did and he quit smooking. Still hasnt had one and I think its been about a year now. Good luck to her.

aspenblue1 replied: Well it worked for my dad, mom, and step mother for several years now.
