How old when you stopped using a stroller?
My3LilMonkeys wrote: I've noticed lately when we go to places like the mall, county fair, etc. that Brooke is usually one of a very few kids her age not in a stroller. She stopped riding in one when she was right around 2 - she just decided she'd rather walk. I see some kids that are probably 5 or 6 crammed in an umbrella stroller that looks like it's about to collapse under their weight and I have to wonder - is that really because the kid wants to be in there or because it's easier for the parent to keep track of them?
So I'm just curious - how old were your kids when you stopped using a stroller? Was it your choice or theirs?
luvbug00 replied: 3ish because she wanted to.
holley79 replied: I figure when Annika is old enough and wants to walk then she can walk. If we are in a very crowded place and she's only like 3 or 4 and not crammed in then I will probably use a stroller.
luvmykids replied: We stopped about 2 with all of them, they wanted to walk and if it's a crowded place I'm one of the terrible mothers who puts a wrist leash on them
1lilpeanut2love replied: I wanna try that out! I don't want people thinking I am cruel though! LOL!!!
CantWait replied: Anthony still uses his umbrella stroller, he's 3, although his feet are dragging on the wheels, so once the snow comes, that'll be it.
We'll probably use the umbrella stroller when we go to places that require a lot of walking until he's either ready to walk all the time, or until he's cramped.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Other people are not the ones who have to protect your child, and look out for their best interest so if you want to do that, who cares what others think?!
We use one umbrella stroller every now and again for either one. But consistently I stopped using it for Christian shortly after Kellie was born, so when C was around 17/18mos. Because we used a side by side one time (hated it). Sometimes in the mall if Chris and I are together and we know that we will be in there for awhile we rent a Mall Patrol stroller, they love those because we pop wheelies, and race one another, and pretend to run into walls and such, they also have steering wheels and the girls pretend to drive them.
mckayleesmom replied: Since Russell was born....She wasn't quiet 2 yet. I still want a double though...for walks and when we go places....Sometimes I just want to strap her down..kwim?
luvbug00 replied:
Do what you gotta! but target has them as "backpacks " and so it's less noticeable. LOL!
luvmykids replied:
It bothered me at first but knowing I have hold of them in some form or fashion makes it worth it. Plus it's usually people without kids or kids who aren't up and around yet that question it. I just give them a wink because I know what they're in for
my2monkeyboys replied: It was last summer, so I guess Will was about to be 3. I only used when we went places like craft fairs or something, since he had a bad habit of snatching things off the tables! LOL
mom2my2cuties replied: We still use one occasionally with Andrea. Her legs get pretty tired sometimes.
She prefers to walk - but sometimes she just gets too tired.
hawkshoe replied: My oldest used one until he was 4 or 5 and my youngest (4 1/2) is still using one. I got a larger umbrella stroller that is geared towar older kids. They ride in it when we are out and often will get out and walk for some of the time. I actually think it makes life easier for me much of the time so I don't force them to walk. They will walk when they want to.
mom21kid2dogs replied: The minute after my daughter started to walk her stroller became a historical artifact~around 13 months, unfortunately.
moped replied: Jack still uses one all the time, I find it a good way to keep track of him and he likes it........
ataylorm replied: Mikee was still using one when he was 4, although usually just because he wanted to push it, but he did love to ride the ones at the mall with the steering wheels and stuff.
Andy on the other had hasn't used on much since she turned 2, can barely get her in them at all. However her latest thing is sitting in the "baby" seats at walmart, you know the little carrier like ones attached to the carts. Started that about 2 weeks ago, just hangs out and chats with dad.
Cece00 replied: We still occasionally use them with our older two, who are almost 5 and 3.5...of course we use one for Natalie, who is almost 1, and Jack, who is 3 weeks.
They older boys usually prefer to walk but I still will bring one in case they get tired or I need to corral them...
PrairieMom replied: The Boy was 2. That is when he stopped riding in the cart at the grocery store too. We started praticing walking beside mommy so the baby could ride in the cart.
Nathansmom replied: Nathan is quickly becoming irritated with the stroller. We use the carts if we're somewhere with that, or else he walks, since he screams in the stroller. Besides, we'll need it for the baby soon anyway.
Nina J replied: Emily was about 2, she didn't want to use it anymore. I carry Odessa more than I use the stroller.
jem0622 replied: My oldest was 4 1/2 when he stopped riding in the stroller. My youngest boy stopped when he was about 3 1/2.
