How often does your baby eat?
MommyToAshley wrote: Ashley (9/5/02) is still eating every 2-1/2 to 3 hours. This includes solids which she usually nurses afterwards. We have a "loose" schedule, approximate times she eats.
Just curious how often your munchkin eats. I thought as Ashley got older she would nurse less often. I don't mind, I was just surprised she is still eating that often.
madaise replied: All the time. Really, it varies for Teigen. Sometimes it's almost constant, other times he can go a while. Depends on what's going on with him too. Like if he's going through a growth spurt, I noticed he'd eat almost constantly... and other times, not so much. This has been true always for him.
momofajcl replied: Solid-wise he eats about 3/4 to 1 jar (#2 size) twice a day, though I think I'm going to start him back 3 times a day now. Before he would just eat a couple bites for breakfast and lunch...and make a HUGE MESS! LOL! As far as breastfeeding...he still eats every 3 hrs. during the day.
camdmm replied: Dominic is on a "loose" schedule also. But here it is, generally: Wakes 6:00 am - nurses 10 minutes and back to crib wakes 8:30 am - by 9 he eats some cereal with a few drops of prune juice in it (he is not a fan of cereal) I also just started a tast of banana and about 4-5 oz. EBM he plays... 12:00 - 4-6 oz of EBM or formula and maybe a jar of veggie (the stage 1) he may nap here anywhere from 30 min. to 90 min. 2:00 - 4-6 oz. EBM or formula he plays ...he may even take a 20 min. nap 6:00 - jar of veggie (stage 1) and 6 oz. EBM betwen 7:30 and 8:30 he'll drink about 10 oz. EBM or formula 9:00 bed

Ashley is only eating solids twice a day now too. I had her on three times a day, but the same thing was happening, she would only eat a couple of bites. She seems to eat a little more now that she is only eating it twice a day, so I am going to wait to add the lunch back in.
supermom replied: I wouldn't classify Anders as a baby anymore but he still eats constantly. We had someone tell us he was a "light eater" - when it got light, he started eating!
Up to a year old, he would BF about every 2-4 hours, depending on whether he got distracted during a feeding, if he was sleepy and nursed longer, etc, etc......
So, I would say that you were pretty much in the "normal" range
We only fed solids at the dinner time feeding for about the first three months (started solids at about 6 1/2 months) - partly because he didn't seem to want it, and partly because mornings were always so hectic around our house.....lol.....(I can't imagine why with three other kids!!!) - Can hardly wait to see what it will be like with number 5
MommyToAshley replied: Well, it looks like we are similar to what others are doing. That's good to know that we are somewhat "normal". haha.
I soooo admire you! I couldn't imagine 5!!!! I am sooo worn out by the end of the day with just Ashley!
momofajcl replied: Well...I tried to feed him solids morning, noon and night and he did ok. He ate 1/2 a medium banana mashed in the AM and about 1/4 jar of sweet potatoes and corn at about 1 then 1/2 jar squash and 1/2 jar applesauce for dinner. Not bad. He just LOVES those mashed bananas
MommyToAshley replied: Do you put it in the blender or do you just mash it by hand. Ashley likes bananas too.. but I have been giving her stage2 bananas. I bet she would like mashed better.
supermom replied: Although you didn't ask the ? of me, I always just got a ripe banana and mashed it by hand - it was the easiest, only one fork to clean, too
MommyToAshley replied: Thanks Supermom.. your advice is always appreciated!
momofajcl replied: Yup! Just as supermom said:)
Kaitlin'smom replied: Kaitlin (12/28/02) is adjusting to her schedule with her stitter, so she eats when she wakes up (about 4-5am) then once we get to the sitters I feed her, then at noon, then once we get home around 5p she east about every 1 1/2-2 hours util she goes to bed at 9p. On weekends or when ever I get to stay home with her we are more flexable and she eats when ever hungry. It seems to be working well.
dhoppygirl replied: Peyton is also on a loose schedule. He usually eats between 3am-5am (and goes back to bed), then feeds again at 6-7am, then daddy feeds him cerealy and fruits (right now pears) for breakfast around 9:30ish...depending on the day he'll eat a lot of cereal, or not a lot at all. Dh has been mixing the fruit in with the cereal along with EBM. If there is some milk leftover, like an ounce or two, he feeds Peyton that, too. Then he takes a nap around 10ish.. I come home for lunch between 12-1 and feed him. Then daddy gives him a bottle of EBM (5ozs) around 3ish. He then takes another nap. Then I feed him again at 5-6, then at 7ish he gets a jar of veggies (stage 1) and sometimes if he is still hungry I mix up a tablespoon of cereal). Then he eats again at 8ish and if he doesn't go to bed then. He eats again at 9 and by then he is ready for bed. I am glad I am not the only one feeding my child constantly!!! (BTW, I pump at work at 10 and 3 to keep up with the milk supply at home!)
